…saw Alan Ball at Newmarket’s July course not that long before he passed away. He was standing alone on one of the lawns, I did go up and thank him for Everton but I always regret not telling him I met his Dad the night we won the title in 1970 and he actually let me touch his winners medal.

Ball loved his racing and was very close to his €x-teammate and racehorse trainer Mike Channon.
