Bad memories. Draw at Villa Park against Ammers and Kidd sent off.
I lived in London then and had to get Ammers football special up to Elland rd for replay only to lose in ET.Bloody Lampard dancing around corner flag. Got back home at 4am with all those bloody ammers.
Terrible night

The photo reminds me that Gary Megson played in that one. And from his very first touch (when the ball was played to him from the kick off and he stumbled over it) he had an absolute nightmare. Just couldn't handle the pressure of the game.

fabulous terrace the old Holt End.
Was in France that year and we only had one ticket. Told my dad to keep it because it took about 18 hours by train in those days. He posted it to me!!!! So I came dashing back just for the one night stay with friends in Lichfield. Went back the Sunday and was dashing to the phone from a restaurant in Paris for updates. If I had gone to Elland road I think it would have tipped me over the edge with disappointment....wasn't long until the mid 80s though.

Believe me the journey back across the Pennines was no joy ride.
