Very skilful player who should have had a better career. Seemed to lack a bit of self-belief. Think it took him about a year to score his first goal for us but he had one season where he scored 15 or so. Good finisher and could create chances for others. Enjoyed watching him.
...John Oster is one of those forgotten footballers who played for us. Talented but lacked application, I think we got him from Grimsby Town of all places.
..not certain who that is, would guess Jon O’Connor but wasn’t sure he made a first team appearance.

In that (un)forgettable season I think he made the most appearances of any outfield player - we beat quite a few clubs for his signature & only being slight he was often anonymous and like many before him in an Everton shirt lacked the confidence to match his talent.
I think it is O'Connor - he played at Middlesbrough away and set up a goal for Tony Grant, but I think that picture is from the Umbro Cup tournament played at Goodison in pre-season 1997. We played Chelsea in the final after beating Ajax the day before and I'm sure we wore our away kit for some reason.
