Another of our League Cup disasters. Battered them for an hour, winning 1-0, Micky Walsh misses when clean through, they equalise then finish us of with two goals in two minutes. Finished 2-3.

That ability to punish teams when they were on top was why they were champions and European Cup winners and our talented team won nothing.

The best player , by a country mile, I have seen in 60 years watching the Blues. Great finisher, brilliant football brain, the silkiest touch you could imagine, as hard as nails, non stop effort and above all, a true winner. Those of us who watched Everton in the late 60s were so fortunate. Brilliant team playing tremendous football with one of the worlds top players at then heart of it all.
