that was the 84 charity shield wasn't it? Great day out, and although a 'friendly' in essence, I knew we would be the better team that season. We were by far the best side that day, and became the first winners of a Merseyside derby at Wembley.

The 3-4 reverse against Chelsea. A rare blip in the 84/85 campaign. Everything Gordon Davies touched ended up a goal. Just one of THOSE days.
