In his biography the Blue dragon they reckon if he had not been a chain smoker - he would have been up there with Law & greaves - the GV stated over 12 yards he had seen no one faster with a burst of speed....
Roy started off as a winger in his youth, his smoking definitely took its toll on him indeed dying so young with lung cancer - he had a thumping shot on him .....

Great penalty taker too which put the the icing on the cake of all his football skills.

Good Blackpool lad along with Hursty of course. Neither played for the Tangerines though Roger signed on for them when he returned from Vancouver Whitecaps but never played a game. Tough and game player, could and should have played for England. Don't mention the name Don Revie in his presence
