My late father, a catholic & his brother, used to cause havoc on these marches in a big gang waiting to get at them - the sectarian areas in Liverpool in those days were a problem .... he gave up his Catholicism when he married my mother a devout C of E.....

Me ma and da was the reverse.
Mum told me stories of those marches,and anything green would be hung out to wind up the marches.
They lived in Everton.
Belgrave Street iirc.
A mix of religions.
My late father was from Vauxhall road, just off Scottie Road - 6ft plus boy he could handle himself in a fight - the stories he told me lol - then as I was growing up as a kid a neighbour unfairly clipped me for nothing he knocked seven bells out of him as the neighbourhood watched - The police were called .....ex miner fist like babies heads - I watched in amazement ....
