Player Valuation: £50m
Whos going Down this Season?, Premiership relegation...

micknick

I was just on the sky sports website and I saw that Villa were willing to sel Olof Mellberg, now although I dont rate Mellberg I think he is one of their best players. They dont seem to have much cash and to be fair their team is an embarassment (aprt from Barry) So they would have to be my pick to go down!

I reckon a bottom three of:
Aston Villa
Watford
Sheffield United

What do you guys reckon- any surprises?

watford
charlton
wigan

watford simply arent strong enough, charlton have lost curbs and havnt replaced murphy - dbent might yet go, and they havnt got anyone in. similar fare at wigan, lost their best player - bullard, not been able to get anyone in except emiley heskey. has chimbonda jumped ship yet? and has roberts left also?

yeah, i have picked fulham in years previous, as i feel they have been treading water for a while now - crap at the back, useful in midfield, rescued by mcbride upfront. cant continue forever.

i picked charlton this year because i cant praise curbishley enough, he was the architect that put charlton fc on the map, and for all his promise i dont reckon dowie can hold a torch to him.

as for wigan, well its paul jewell isnt it, he managed miracles with them last year like he managed miracles with bradford, he dropped bradford like a bad habit the moment the survived, although wigan have more cash i can see the same happening, other prm managers used to their players and style of play, and them not having enough strength in depth to either grind results out or change the shape of a game.

portsmouth look to be spending big, or at least trying.

sheffield united dont have any superstars but do have warnock, and as a manager i think he is great, his entire attitude is perfect, he speaks his mind, tells it how he sees it and doesnt care about the penalties. Its going to be great seeing him shout it out with the big boys in the coming season. I reckon akinbiyi might be a surprise package this season as well, its now or never for adi, and his torment at leicester must still be fresh in his mind.

reading, bit light weight, teams like bolton will just steam roller them.

watford, more of the same only much less quality. - the sunderland of 06-07

first line ;)

It looks like everyone pretty much agrees on Watford.

I think Reading will be more than capable of staying up and could in fact pull "a Wigan" this year and defy expectations of a lower table finish.

Sheffield United I think could stay up as well but not to the extent that Reading will.

So that leaves me with two Premier league teams from last year.

I guess I'd have to say Fulham because as was mentioned earlier, I think they've been doing it with smoke and mirrors for too long and that it'll finally catch up with them. If you can't win on the road (until the last road game of the season), you're eventually not going to be able to win at home either.

Aston Villa might be a good pick. Same with Charlton.

I guess I'll go with:

Watford
Fulham
Aston Villa

come on you blues

I hope that one newly promoted team goes down if that.

If all of them stay up and, for example, Charlton, Villa and Fulham get relegated then this will begin to close the gap on the Premiership and the CCC.

A nice re-jig of order is what this league needs in the forthcoming season, lets have a real surprise contender for the title (us of course wink.gif ).

Bring on August.

The bottom three will consist of these clubs:

-Aston Villa
-Fulham
-Reading
-Sheffield U
-Watford
-Wigan

I also reckon that Bolton and Charlton can be near the danger zone.

Well, as Brum went down last season I don't really care who get s the drop this season, so long as it isn't us. Hmm, I guess I would like to see the barcodes get relegated.

But my guess would have to be Villa, especially after the letter from the players asking WTF?. Watford and Boro will be the others. I think Boro are going to have a shocking season. And I have based my descision on bugger all, just going for something a little different.
