Managed to get a ticket for the home end this afternoon, hopefully a good evening of football for us. Not wanting to get too far ahead of ourselves but Wembley is very much in grasping distance again, but this is Ebepton FFS.

A win would be a great boost for the remainder of the season, there feels a negativity about the club, which is nothing new. A good draw and Wembley is within our sights, more so, my dream of beating Luton in the Final - 'cause even we couldn't lose that one!

David Moyes will hope to welcome back Sylvain Distin after the French defender missed Sunday’s defeat at Manchester United through illness. The Blues boss said last week that Seamus Coleman would likely miss the trip to Boundary Park, while another right-back, Tony Hibbert, is definitely out. Victor Anichebe appeared to pick up a knock before being substituted at Old Trafford but could be in line for a fifth straight start should he have shaken that off.
Oldham’s fourth round hero Matt Smith is a doubt for the game having been sidelined since his brace against Liverpool because of a shoulder injury. The other scorer from that victory over the Reds, Reece Wabara, is no longer at the club. The Manchester City trainee returned to Eastlands following the Liverpool game and is now on loan at Championship outfit Blackpool.

Then managed by John Sheridan, the League One outfit produced one of the shocks of the third round, beating the Blues at Goodison Park thanks to Gary McDonald's 25-yard stunner. Tony Hibbert, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe are all survivors from a miserable afternoon on the Blue half of Merseyside.

A 3-0 second leg defeat in Portugal meant the Blues crashed out at the last 32 stage, as Atletico Madrid went on to claim the inaugural Europa League crown. Other notable results on 16 January include a 3-0 FA Cup fifth round success against Telford United in 1985 and a 5-2 win over Wrexham at the same stage five years earlier.

The match was probably best remembered for the identity of Oldham's scorer however - their player/manager, one Graeme Sharp!

Sharp is just one name to have ties with both Everton and Oldham, with another notable connection being Joe Royle. In fact, 'Big Joe' spent 12 years as a manager at Boundary Park before stepping into the managerial hotseat at Goodison in November 1994. He later returned for a brief spell in charge of the club in 2009, leading them to 10th in League One before opting to call it a day.
During his spell in the Boundary Park dugout, Sharp signed his 1987 championship-winning teammate Ian Snodin while other names to have turned out for both sides include Johnny Morrissey, Neil Pointon, Paul Gerrard, Ian Marshall and Jose Baxter.
