"Thanks to the onset of the Industrial Revolution there is a railway station in Oldham where trains actually stop so there’s no excuse for packing all your things and getting the [Poor language removed] out of there is there?"

 Spot on.

Cant see us slipping up here. We'll win this by two clear goals.

Managed to get a ticket for the home end this afternoon, hopefully a good evening of football for us. Not wanting to get too far ahead of ourselves but Wembley is very much in grasping distance again, but this is Ebepton FFS.

Thanks for the preview, enjoyed as usual. That last pic of Waggy holding up the cup is probably my best day as an Evertonian.

A win would be a great boost for the remainder of the season, there feels a negativity about the club, which is nothing new. A good draw and Wembley is within our sights, more so, my dream of beating Luton in the Final - 'cause even we couldn't lose that one!

preview: Oldham v Everton. 16th Feb @ 18.00.

Team news:
David Moyes will hope to welcome back Sylvain Distin after the French defender missed Sunday’s defeat at Manchester United through illness. The Blues boss said last week that Seamus Coleman would likely miss the trip to Boundary Park, while another right-back, Tony Hibbert, is definitely out. Victor Anichebe appeared to pick up a knock before being substituted at Old Trafford but could be in line for a fifth straight start should he have shaken that off.

Oldham’s fourth round hero Matt Smith is a doubt for the game having been sidelined since his brace against Liverpool because of a shoulder injury. The other scorer from that victory over the Reds, Reece Wabara, is no longer at the club. The Manchester City trainee returned to Eastlands following the Liverpool game and is now on loan at Championship outfit Blackpool.

Form:
Everton
Last outing: 0-2 (a) Manchester United, 10 February
Last six: DDWWDL

Everton lost for just the fourth time this season at Premier League pacesetters Manchester United last weekend. Prior to that David Moyes’ men drew 3-3 with Aston Villa, a result which came on the back of a 2-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion. The Blues’ last outing in the FA Cup resulted in a 2-1 triumph at Bolton, John Heitinga thumping home in the final minute to ensure a place in the last 16.

Oldham Athletic
Last outing: 3-1 (h), MK Dons, Saturday 9 February
Last six: LLLWLW

Oldham have played just twice since their giant killing of Liverpool but go into Saturday’s game on the back of an impressive win against MK Dons. Unfortunately, victories have been few and far between this season – the 3-1 success was only their eighth of the campaign.

Last Meeting:
Everton 0-1 Oldham Athletic, 5 January 2008. David Moyes and his players would probably rather forget the last time they came face-to-face with Oldham. Then managed by John Sheridan, the League One outfit produced one of the shocks of the third round, beating the Blues at Goodison Park thanks to Gary McDonald's 25-yard stunner. Tony Hibbert, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe are all survivors from a miserable afternoon on the Blue half of Merseyside.

FlashBack:

Everton recorded their most recent European victory on this day in 2010 as goals from Steven Pienaar and Sylvain Distin earned a 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon. Distin later saw red, however, after giving away the penalty from which Miguel Veloso notched the visitors' consolation. A 3-0 second leg defeat in Portugal meant the Blues crashed out at the last 32 stage, as Atletico Madrid went on to claim the inaugural Europa League crown. Other notable results on 16 January include a 3-0 FA Cup fifth round success against Telford United in 1985 and a 5-2 win over Wrexham at the same stage five years earlier.

Classic Match:
Everton 2-1 Oldham Athletic, 5 March 1994. One of the 22 clubs to take part in the very first Premier League campaign, Oldham survived two seasons in the revamped top flight before financial problems triggered a descent down the leagues. As a result, you have to go back to March 1994 to find the last league meeting between Everton and the Latics, a 2-1 win which came courtesy of goals from Predrag 'Preki' Radosavljević and Graham Stuart. The match was probably best remembered for the identity of Oldham's scorer however - their player/manager, one Graeme Sharp!

Club Connection:
Sharp is just one name to have ties with both Everton and Oldham, with another notable connection being Joe Royle. In fact, 'Big Joe' spent 12 years as a manager at Boundary Park before stepping into the managerial hotseat at Goodison in November 1994. He later returned for a brief spell in charge of the club in 2009, leading them to 10th in League One before opting to call it a day.

During his spell in the Boundary Park dugout, Sharp signed his 1987 championship-winning teammate Ian Snodin while other names to have turned out for both sides include Johnny Morrissey, Neil Pointon, Paul Gerrard, Ian Marshall and Jose Baxter.

Match Stats:
1) Everton and Oldham have met 40 times in all competition and shared 14 victories each. A total of 21 of those meetings have been at Goodison Park, with the Blues winning nine and drawing six on home soil.

2) Saturday's encounter will be the ninth between the two sides in the FA Cup, though three of those have been replays. Prior to the aforementioned third round meeting in 2008, the two sides last locked horns in the competition in 1990, Oldham eventually prevailing in a second replay.

3) To find Everton's last FA Cup victory over Oldham you actually have to go all the way back to the third round of 1912. The Toffees won the game 2-0 thanks to a brace from Tommy Browell.
