2024/25 Orel Mangala

Definitely a deep lying play maker and not a destroyer. Can be a bit suspect off the ball and his tackling is woeful. Defo needs Gueye alongside him

However he is immensely tidy on the ball, never seems to lose it, and his distribution is immaculate. There's a lot to be said for weighting every simple five, ten and fifteen yard pass with no bobble straight to the blokes feet or right into his stride. It looks easy but it isn't

Thought he controlled the game first half with Idrissa

Is his tackling woeful? I can't say I've ever thought it was even bad, he's just pretty good at everything he does in my opinion

Maybe a bit hyperbolic but it's not great imo.

Think he makes a lot of desperate challenges to make up for his positional ineptitude. There was an example today where he just ran past the ball out on the wing, leading to a good Spurs chance.

But that's not his game, he's a ball player and wants to dictate games

Completely agree. He is excellent on the ball. Lovely touch and composure and seems to pick a good forward perfectly weighted pass all the time.

Becoming a good player for us … tidy with the ball and works hard .. Gana getting older and a few years left in this lad. Need to look at signing him on a pay later scheme and do it now to free up another loan spot .

At the price Lyon agreed as the option then not a chance in hell we should pay that, if they'd renegotiate down then around 15m he'd represent a decent deal

Overall doubt Lyon will want to take that much of a loss on him as they paid overall around 30+ million including a huge loan fee the season before he signed

According to Wikipedia (I know) he joined Lyon on a £10m loan fee which was then made permanent with an additional £15m so £25m in total. I've no idea what loan fee we have paid but if we could get him for £20-25m then I think he'd be a decent signing.
