Throwing in the extra year already extended from last year was just icing on the cake.

By the way, there is still chance he could go to Man Utd this summer, but they have lost the imaginary negotiating leverage they thought they had.

So only way it happens is they pay full price on Dortmund terms.

It is quite simple, Manchester United just need to pay the price that Dortmund have put on him. Not sure what Man Utd sporting director thinks was going to happen? He’s not dealing with some rookie, Michael Zorc has been in this business a long time.
And Man Utd guy seems to have a real problem getting deals over the line, it took them ages to get Maguire last summer, and ended up paying what Leicester wanted, which was a crazy fee for a not great player. And it took then 2 transfer windows to get Bruno Fernades signed and paid almost the same amount in January as his club wanted for him in the summer.
