It's so blatant at this point that you have to assume Chelsea are expecting the FA to pull the plug on these types of 8/9 year style deals in the near future so are hoarding as many top young talents as they can before the party is stopped.

Just don’t see the logic in some of these fees for central midfield players who aren’t big goal producers. Does Caicedo do really anything to the gap between City and Chelsea? To pay that much and not make much progress toward being better than the team your chasing is just wild. I guess I just can’t wrap my head around the money not mattering.

You can’t really win titles without a top class defensive midfielder so that’s what they’re hoping for. Like the price of a Makelele now would be 100+

Shocking isn't it, for a good player not what I would think of as great.
Watching Chelsea yesterday they definitely need a defensive midfielder possibly two.
