Other clubs transfers

Why do other clubs wrap these things up for next season, outside the transfer window, while we always wait politely until the right time?

Surely there's nothing wrong with doing this, accepting that the lad obviously can't play until next season. So why do we never get in before the rush?

You clearly forget the time we wrapped up Jermaine Beckford early doors.

Yeah, silly me. I suppose that was our quota.

Pienaar and Howard also!

I get why people want them in early doors, but think of it from the clubs POV, say we buy Mikel Boshamigo in May, we have to pay him his 150k a week for 3 months before he even kicks a ball. So doing the deal in August saves us 1.8m, multiply that by 7 players and theres 12m saved in the bank.

So we don’t have to pay their summer wages obviously.

Good point. But there's a reason people camp out to be first in at the January sales.

(Actually there's not... Sales are a con and just flog off the stuff that's turd and hasn't sold before - but the stuff that STILL doesn't sell is likely what's left over by August.)

That's surely not so bad as getting a player you want before some other club (looking at you West Ham) comes sniffing around though.

Very rarely clubs muscle in on somebody elses player, clubs dont really like getting into a bidding war or a wages war, nobody wins in such cases.

Three it's not clubs muscling in so much, but whispers perhaps that a more attractive club (if you can believe one exists) is interested and it turns the player's head.

This has happened a few times I can recall (well not really recall as I'm rubbish recalling names) - unless of course the link with us was just the usual media jibber jabber in the first place.

Jorginho last summer and Willian was all set to sign for Spurs until Chelsea moved in.

Everton we had Kyle Naughton and the 2 lads who joined West Ham, Perez who joined Arsenal and lets never forget Manny who couldnt wait to bin us off for Valencia.

So yeah it does happen, just rarely IMO.
Wolves looking like they’ll sign Jiminez permanently. How wrong me and 90% of this forum were about him.

And thats enough of that, he cant even run with the ball, utter farce of a player.
