Celta Vigo just signed a carbon copy of Maxi Gomez so that’s him off somewhere. Linked to West Ham, Valencia & us at one point.

West Ham have just upped their bid to £40mill (with the Arnoutovic money incoming) for him. Doubt Valencia will match that but he apparently prefers to stay in Spain. Im sure a decent weekly wage will change his mind.

Rodri is another excellent player for City. Obviously they're City and they have infinite money, but still, their recruitment is top notch.

Feels odd that Man City’s record signing is £62.6m.

It's all down to the media and the perception that they create & promote.
When Liverpool break the British transfer record on a regular basis by paying £75m for VVD & £68m for Alisson they are 'good investments' and they are 'ahead of the curve'. When we pay £60m for Marhez its 'dirty oil money ruining football'. We got laughed out of town for paying £44m for Sterling & £55m for De Bruyne...

To be fair Sterling and De Bruyne were way before the Neymar transfer, which is when fees went absolutely mental. 50 million upwards for an average player is the norm now.

Maybe we were 'ahead of the curve' just for once :-)
Laporte at £57 million was also excellent business.
For sure, we have had our share of flops such as Bony & Mangala
but overall not bad at all.

Big spenders.

BREAKING NEWS

Youri Tielemans
is on a flight from Brussels bound for Birmingham with Leicester City and Monaco close to agreeing a club-record fee for the Belgian international, Sky Sports News understands.

We expect the final fee to be around £40m.

Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at King Power stadium, scoring three goals and adding four assists in just 13 Premier League games.

His performances alerted a number of other top clubs in the Premier League and Europe, but Leicester have worked hard to secure his signature after Brendan Rodgers made him his number one transfer target.

We told you earlier this week that Tielemans had made it clear to his agent that Leicester was his preferred destination, even though it was suggested Manchester United might come in for him if Paul Pogba leaves Old Trafford this summer.
