I agree. He had loads of ability. Just didn't have the mentality to go with it. He started well and was our best player for the opening month and throughout preseason. Then he seemed to lose interest and couldn't be bothered trying. Happens all the time with footy players. Shame really.

Mightve been better in a team that wasn't struggling, but we'll never know.

As far as i can tell, the Niasse comparison is based on the fact he's African and nothing else.

Found God, the rumours at the time were saying and lost interest in the footy, supposed to be. Decent player prior to that.
Niasse just looks out of his dept, surprising really as his national team has some decent qualify and he gets a start, might just be overwhelmed by the move, and needs to move to somewhere he feels comfortable at.

I was at Derby vs Everton at Pride Park and he got subbed off at half time. I think he had no talent AND was weird.

Nah you can have talent and still not be good. Nyarko had no heart at all for it and you could tell. It makes a huge difference.

Well I recall him scoring a back heel from 12 yards out against Man City in Pre season (Ebbrells testimonial?) and scoring a great goal vs Spurs away about 4 games into the season, as well as just having loads of pace and a good touch... It was weird how he just dropped off, as it was in stark contrast to how he started off.
As Edge said, there were rumours at the time he found God and wanted to leave England, and he just completely lost his way.

I even remember when Moyes brought him back in from the cold and he started against Chelsea (i think) and smacked the bar with an outrageous 30yd strike in the 1St 5 mins.

It didn't work out for him in the long run, but to just dismiss all ability he may have had is a bit unfair.
