If he is injured for a full season - or more - do we get insurance or anything? If it happens on international duty maybe? Could we not send him to work in the Everton farm shop in Yorkshire?

Mixed feelings about Niasse, feel embarrassed for him not getting a number at the start of the season but surely Martinez saw something in him to part with £13.5m.... I'd like him to do well and prove the haters wrong but I'm yet to see any positives.

Collectors item or what?

Sell

Or burn.

won't lie, i feel a bit bad for him. look how happy he was to have signed for us... his dream move to the big league and it's all gone spectacularly wrong for him without him ever really having a chance to prove himself. imagine if lukaku gets injured and he goes on to bang in 20 goals, what a story that would be.

It's easy to sympathise with anybody who worked under Martinez and wasn't able to really perform to their potential, so in that aspect I can absolutely see where you're coming from.

However, in light of Niasse's refusal to join another team despite it having been made crystal clear he has no opportunity at Everton, I have no sympathy with him. He obviously was given the contract and can sit on it as long as he likes and take home his 50k a week, but it's disgusting that, as a professional footballer, he wasn't prepared to take a moderate wage drop to continue his career elsewhere.

Martinez and everybody else involved in that transfer needs looking into.

How do you know he had offers with a 'moderate' drop? The only confirmed interest was from Russia - a place he desperately wanted to leave when we bought him plus his gf/wife lives in manchester. Why should he leave? We paid for him, we gave him a contract.

At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with him saying 'i'm not leaving, i'm going to prove myself'. If he doesn't, fair enough.

The lad is getting grief for being not very good and apparently not being gracious enough to apologise for being signed and moving on.

Ridiculous imo.

...I don't blame the lad for sitting on his contract, it's a cut throat business in which clubs discard youngsters for not being good enough after many years on their books. If you're in demand it's a great time to be a footballer, every club will have a Niasse, the best thing to do is accept the situation. If we can move him on it'll be good but if not there's little we can do.

koeman was soooo insistent on him having to leave to play tho, makes me wonder if its not just ability thats the problem...

But the point was being made about feeling sorry for him because he can't prove himself.

I think it's therefore a fair point to say he can prove himself, by going elsewhere and doing it. Or he can sit here and take his money home if he prefers. There's nothing wrong with him sitting on his contract at all and I don't blame him for that, but if he's choosing to take the money over the opportunity to play then I don't see any reason to feel sorry for him.

Unfortunately that kind of story always starts "Once upon a time ---------".
