This is absolutely a fair statement. We have a half a season of grinding out results ahead of us because we didn't fill the most important position

It would have been really sensible, if you can 'forgive' Niasse for whatever he's done, to save on Klassen or Gylfi, give Barkley a chance and spend extra on a top striker instead. We could have surely gone in for mid-range strikers like Bony, Llorente, a bit better like Giroud, Vardy or if we are so ambitious, even Lacazette.
Not sure Niasse has done anything wrong other than being not very good. Whether Klaassen and Sigurdsson are redundant is a fair question. Could Sigursson be a win now and Klaassen his heir apparent, as Koeman said it will take time for him to adjust to the PL? Rooney is a profile signing and also best suited as a 10. I get the confusion. Barkley wants out and I don't think any talking would change that. Not to mention he is out for a couple months so a moot point anyway.

Psychologically this guy must be pretty robust! kind of what you want in a striker, doesn't give a rats back-side about confidence or what people think, clearly not a sulker.
I'm trying to think back to his few minutes in the first team and I'm pretty sure he wasn't quite as bad as people have since made out, could probably vault myself in this thread somewhere. I seem to remember he showed for the ball a lot and came deep a few times to pick it up, but Lukaku was going through a lazy spell at the time so may have just been a refreshing change.
However, there was the whole tripping over the ball when he was about to shoot in like the 2nd game of Ron's first pre-season (?), surely he wasn't judged on that moment alone though.
Wonder if he'll get a run out in some cup game we're not bothered about?
Then again, if we are to use our combined fan fume power to influence at least one change, I'd rather we focused on seeing the back of Martina.
