Let's be really honest here: How often do we ever sign a top class player (as opposed to an inspired buy like Big Nev who became a top player)? We might get it right now and then (Dean, Lawton for example) but I think you can count on your hand the number of real top players - at the top of their game - we've succeeded in getting in the post war era (for the most part we've apparently tried and failed)

Maybe: Bobby Collins, Alex Young, Tony Kay, Ray Wilson, ALAN BALL, Bob Latchford (maybe), Gary Lineker (maybe) - a few others close to top class..

For me only Lawton and Ball stand out. There might be others but they don't come straight to mind.

Kanchelskis

I can't begin to imagine the fume if we fail to produce nothing more than Williams and then we get a good beating by Spurs.
Even with a couple of late additions it looks like a grim start to the season. If there are no new faces we are in for a torrid time

Right the weekend is over, a new working day beckons, get your finest pens out, warm up the fax machine, it's contract signing time!
