I'm not joking. Plastic songs are those crap ones that get made up to pop tunes that are sung to make it look like there's an atmosphere. I'd much rather hear 40,000 Evertonians screaming at their team to get into it than that rubbish.

Goodison roaring is fantastic, Goodison singing "I just can't get enough"? Jesus wept.

As for having a go at people who don't want to sing? You called me a knobhead before like (y)

It looks like someone has let the power go to their head with the mighty neg rep button. So childish.

Re calling you a knobhead, Ibelieve my comments were "and avoid knobhead cliches like 'Soccer am chants', 'cringeworthy' and 'smalltime' in your reply."

So I guess your reading isn't upto much.

One of our biggest songs, 'We love you Everton we do' is from a cheesy pop song and has been sung for years. Son of my father by Chicory tip still goes strong. Just cant get enough got some very good airings last year and theyear before. We've had many many more pop songs done since the pop song was defined in the 60s.

Our fans are very poor home and away atmosphere wise most of the time. It's pathetic sometimes. Reading on saturday was a perfect example. We went 1-0 up and we still sat there in silence. We are the only big club who sits down all game and has people moaning like **** if people stand. Well why is it acceptable at City away and the Derby? And funnily enough, why are those two easily the best away atmospheres? 6,000 of us stood at Sunderland last season in the cup and it woud be difficult to find a better away following in the league on that occasion. Contrast that to the league game there and we didn't even sing untill Baines scored the penalty.

Despite saying all that, the numbers we take are absolutely fantastic and the only clubs I would class as good as us for that are Leeds, Spurs and Newcastle. Newcastle take less away than us but have further to travel to every away, Spurs take similar numbers to us and Leeds have unbelievable away support even in the Championship. The big four can't be included in that because they have millions of glory hunters to fill their away sections if the hardcore doesn't turn up.

Where I will stick up for our support vocally is that I would hate to come out with some of the songs that other fans have. For example, Man City's "Were' not really 'ere" song or Villa's "Empty seats". Even Man United who have great away support sing ****e like "knick knack paddy wack, give a dog a bone". If we had to resort to singing stuff like that, i'd rather we didn't bother.

Agree 99%, we sung knick knackpaddywack loads in the 80s 'We are here, we are there, we are ****ing everywhere with a knick knack paddywack give a dog a bone, Man United **** off home', also This old man, he told me, Bryan Robson's got vd etc

I was only young in the 80's so don't remember. Not a fan though. Suppose I can't slate them though if we used to sing it.

Goodison is a bit crap sometimes,at least it is in the Park end.I`d say bout 6 out of the 19 home games it has a brilliant atmosphere the rest are hit and miss.

Quite often I agree. Thing is though it's like that at the vast majority of grounds.

Only Stoke made me think "these are a bit lively" and they were giving it bifters every single time they got a throw in our half. Can't see us roaring our heads off for throws on the halfway line.

Agree mate Imagine getting worked up into a frenzie cos we got a throw.
But then Stoke do score a lot from Delap throws by the half way line so im not surprised.

Yeah course, each to thier own.

Just makes me laugh that people think we're not boss fans cos we're not singing our heads off when we get played off the park by Bolton and Norwich. It's like they've fell for the sky myth that every grounds bouncing, constantly.

One big factor IMO is that the away fans aren't anywhere near the Galdwys St and you can barely hear them from there as thats where most of our noise comes from.

Yes indeed, thats why i only said at least in the park end.Cos i couldn`t tell you what it was like in the Gwladys st. But you very rarely hear them from the park end. Generally depends on how good the game is i.e. if the game is sh*te the atmosphere is and vice versa.

I honestly think our fans at Goodison are very very poor.
Not into the chavvy pop songs, but what's wrong with a bit of chanting? I don't know why everyone is so down on 'EVERTON EVERTON EVERTON' It's the ultimate football chant, it can be kept going for as long as you like, it directly supports the team/club and it doesn't make us sound like ultra-chavs.
I'm all for whatever sound we can make at the match, but so many Evertonians seem to be of the 'GRIM-FACED-GRUMBLERS' type (is that a type?)
Long chants & screaming at the players/ref/opposition is the way forward!

Really it's about expectation, Pompey and Stoke have been mentioned the best support in the last decade but it's because they exceeded expectation them being in the Prem is like us winning the league, Blackpool the same and loads of others.

Look at Liverpool absolutely flat as a pancake and Utd only wake up for the CL semi final and final ditto Arsenal.

We expect to be in the top flight (despite some thinking we're a perennial relegation club) add in the absolute sh1te we've had to watch for seasons and it ain't gonna get the juices flowing.

We need a cup, any fookin cup.

I agree with both of the last 2 posts.

But even a Cup win wouldn't alter anything for the following season, we need 'singing sections' were lasd who want to get the songs going can sit together, once the singing starts it usually takes off quite quickly (if were doing half alright) but the trouble at Goodison is that hardly anyone wants to start the chants off!

Hate it sometimes at Goodison during the 'Everton everton everton' chant, you say it like 6 times then everyone just kills it off. What's that all about??

My first objective when at the game is to watch the game, yeah it is fun now and again when we have a long singing session but a lot of the time it is just good to sit/stand there and watch a game of football.

The important thing is what occurs when we disagree with a decision or something annoys us and that is when we come into our own.

Their is truly nothing like an angry Goodison and we very rarely lose a game if we are angry early on.

I go to a fair number of aways, always have, and I must say whatever criticisms there are of our lot at home I may have, thank christ in the main we are not like the rest,we just don't do all the manufactured SKY fans lark IMO and it sort of sets us apart!!

Commitment is going to a **** hole where we go every year, it doesn't take commitment to go on a boss mini holiday on the ale, it takes wangling.

Should tell my mate that went to an away match in Belgium on a coach and then went straight back on a coach as soon as the game was over that he had a 'boss mini break' and that he's a s**t fan for not standing up and obstructing the old fella behind him who doesn't want to stand for 90 minutes.

My dad is 64 and has a hard time walking, is currently on the waiting list for a knee replacement. I see no reason why people who want to sing all game can't do so sat down so my old man doesn't have to stand in pain for an hour and a half just to watch the football match he paid £40 to see. That's why people who say we should stand up piss me off. I've stood up at away games before, but that doesn't mean we should do it, and i wouldn't stand if people in front of me sat down.
