Our finances in the Championship

I think moshiri would gamble, hoping for an immediate return and promotion, so keep the majority of the squad together. If that failed then we would be in serious financial trouble and a possible fire sale.

Wonder how many of these [expletives deleted] have relegation clauses in their contracts, and how many we'll have to pay off the majority of the balance of their contracts to get them shifted out to other clubs who wont be as ridiculously generous with their wages. The nightmare is that of the top 10 earners, only Delph is out of contract at the end of the season...

We got bullied all over the shop by Hull. If we go down, I hope we cease to exist- it would be better for us all in the long term.
We need to do what other clubs have done and buy several good Championship level players and sell several high earners. A prolific striker at that level is a must. A Mitrovic or Gayle.

We should have got moyes back when we had the chance. The majority of fans didn't want him (I wanted him back) and now can enjoy championship football for the foreseeable future. Possibly league one, possible administration

Moyes under this ownership probably wouldn't have worked. Would definitely have had players he doesn't want, etc. I think whatever happens its always hard to go back to your previous manager. Happy to be proven wrong, can anyone think of a successful 2nd stint by a returning manager?

Mitrovic is on like 85k a week at fulham in the championship

just cos you get relegated doesn't mean you can only earn 5-10k a week

i would assume most if not all of our players earning over 100k a week will get sold

That is disgusting. These are leeches on our Club.

I think Fulham probably had contingency plans in place for relegation, it was almost expected so they’d be financially planning for that when they were in the premiership. If they stayed up, bargain.

Our owners spent 6 weeks on 2 occasions looking for managers, and came back with Sam Allardyce and then Vitor Pierara

I have no confidence they are prepared for the relegation

If you look at 2019/20 and 2020/21 combined , Mina was available for ~70% of PL games.

This season that has dipped and it's fair to say there are Q marks on his durability. But teams will take a risk on him. Getting Mina for 70% of PL games probably improves at least half the teams at CB in the PL. IMO he starts for 12-14 teams in the league at CB. That's why he'll command a fee and someone will take a chance on him if he's available for ~20M

Not a chance Everton get close to £20M after the season he's had. There are more than question marks about his durability - it's a clear fact he is injury prone. He's managed 90 minutes ONCE since October last year in ALL competitions. That's far more relevant than averaging out PL appearances only (including bench cameos) from 2-3 years ago.

And he isn't someone who improves 12-14 sides without question. Even before his recurring thigh issues.

Nobody would come close to matching his wages at Everton with those question marks. And he isn't going to go elsewhere for less without being compensated at least in part for that loss of earnings. That money comes at the expense of the transfer fee - either the money a club is willing to pay goes on paying up the contract or Everton reduce the fee massively to enable the buyer to up their offer to the player.

Or even Everton agree to part finance his wage until the date his Everton deal was due to expire - plenty of precedent with the likes of Leeds and Sunderland how players wages kill their transfer value. Or even the likes of Rodriguez - instead of paying Real Madrid we took over the wages at the expense of a transfer sum. Same with Rooneys "£7M" deal to MLS - that 7M wasn't going in Everton's coffers - it was paying up his deal and getting him off the books.

How you think Everton end up walking away with £20M in those circumstances is a leap for me.

I'd be amazed if there wasn't a plan in place to minimise the damage if we go down. Its not like the blueprint for financial disaster isn't there for all to see with the previous clubs relegated. Re-negotiation of wages should be standard in every contract, or as a minimum, a percentage reduction upon relegation.

The problem is, as widely reported, our players don’t have that in their contract. It’s a major concern
