My bad! I'm nowhere near bright enough to get into Oxford! Even if I was, I don't think I would've stayed, my goal was to get as far away from home as possible.
That seems to be the strategy for most students. Certainly was with my kids. When they finish Uni, they usually want to stay in the City where they went to Uni.

Hardly anyone went to Uni in my day. National Service was our Uni. The only difference being we never wanted to see the place we were posted to ever again!lol

Abingdon is a very nice town with a lot of boring ale pubs and 1 half decent one. The reason is most of the town pubs were owned by the local brewery Morlands - which was good - very good - until the verminous Greene King bought them all up and moved the brewing to their puke factory turning into bland nothingness. Consequently its hard to find a good punt there.

I know the town well having passed through it many times on my boat. Said to be the oldest known settlement in britain if you believe them.

Can quite see that theres nothing there for a young lad though.

Enjoy being here and post loads. If you need any advice on sexual deviance then @Bungle Is your man.
Morlands was a lovely pint, ruined as you say by corporate greed.

I guess you get very attached to where you go to Uni, I certainly did!

It definitely seems the norm to go to Uni in my generation, although in my town a lot of squaddies still terrorise the local pubs! lol
