I pay because websites and forums are cost money. Yeah they get ad revenue, but I doubt the founders are partying in St. Tropez all summer.

I wish paid members could properly swear. I'd pay double for that.

That's my personal favourite paid contributor theory, that D-man is paid by the site to drive traffic.

Seen it put forward a few times. Would be so disappointed if true.

If I ran a forum I would def have five fake accounts that contribute every day with some controversial opinions stirring up debate. After a while it would reach critical mass and these characters wouldn’t be needed.
