Pancake Day

Prefer savoury pancakes myself... cheese and ham with a few splashes of Maggi for flavour.

Absolutely favourite though is a Chinese pancake, famous in Shanghai and other areas, called a jianbing - wonderful. I fondly remember being there in about 2015 and nervously queuing up at a street vendor's stand, the only white person to be seen, and not knowing the price and not seeing any signs for the price, not to mention knowing no Chinese at all. The vendor had a basket for you to throw your money in and used an honesty system for you to take the correct change. I held my fingers up to ask for two of the pancakes, and knew the note I had in my hand would be enough to easily cover it. A nice man behind me, with a smile on his face, indicated to put my money in the basket, and reached in and got the correct change out for me. Think I paid about £1.50 for two piping hot, crispy, sweet and slightly spicy, fragrant pancakes. 11/10 would recommend.

On the picture below, they'll scoop a stodgy dollop of the mixture onto a flat stove and use a wooden instrument to circle it into an even layer. After that they'll crack an egg into the middle and use the same wooden instrument to delicately mix it evenly over the pancake. They'll sprinkle some spices onto it and throw on some green onions, then spoon a red chili sauce, and then a darker hoisin-style sauce onto it, before putting a kind of pork cracking cracker directly into the middle, folding it up and cutting it into half, before handing it to you in a paper bag. Street food as its finest.

When you're ready for the NHS to go under because of all the people with diabetes
My diabetes & three other members of a large family all got diabetes type 2 after we had been dished out the same Beta blocker Atenolol when the internet first arrived I checked it out & it stated then - warning the tablet can damage the pancreas & cause type 2 diabetes ... the only three people in my family like me were prescribed this tablet = we ended up type 2 diabetics - a cheap & nasty cheap drug - My GP changed me to far better Blood pressure tablets as he was fuming as my BP was only slightly high back then ....

It was in the era that snooker players were using them to enhance their performance as it slows the heart down etc - funny enough at that time I played in a snooker league after being on that tablet never lost many games..... my teammates were asking what tablet I was on

Please be careful to avoid Beta blockers if your BP is only slightly elevated -as IMO this is not a coincidence the only 3 people in my family end up with type 2 Diabetes, which is an awful illness to live with .....

Like I said - strange.
But it would be boring if we were all the same.
Its a combo I only discovered recently. But then when you look at the types of bacon you buy, ie The Maple Kind, you wonder why it took so long. Personally I would have preferred twice the amount of bacon in between 2 pieces of bread and a good application of HP Sauce but the kids wanted pancakes. Who am I to spoil their goals.
