Kendricks smashes the pole for the second time and wins! The only man to hit the pole twice, a brilliantly deserved GOLD!
Edit: Looks like the gold has been awarded to Duplantis, despite him not hitting the pole. Puzzling, but I’m not an expert on field events so there is obviously some technicality I’m missing. Brilliant silver for Kendricks though.

as a kid watching the Olympics I was always fascinated with the pole vaulting, it really is one of the freakiest sports
it must be some rush hurling yourself 9 or 10 feet through the air while grasping a fiberglass rod, mad stuff...
