Paul Merson: Football, Gambling and Me

Merson making a clown of himself again.

I'd think DCL is on a few teams' radar. I half expect a cheeky bid from Real whilst Ancelotti is there. I think that he'd only take the big jump to an "elite" team which unfortunately for Arsenal doesn’t include them right now.

Merson was a decent footballer but the worst pundit possible how he survived the recent cull at Sky sports I will never know.
He has had enough publicity and help regarding his addictions over the years, time they moved on to someone else.
Probably kept him on due to his issues, chances are he would go off the rails if they sacked him.

To be fair, DCL would absolutely go to Arsenal I reckon.

As a striker, approaching his peak years, are you going to get more attention being fed by the likes of Smith Rowe, Saka and Oedegaard or Townsend, Iwobi and Gomes???

Re Merson, though: it’s fine to think he’s a detestable little goblin and also to have sympathy for the issues he’s faced/is facing. The big gambling companies are such profitable behemoths that they can easily afford to implement so many measures to help protect gamblers and do valuable community work with addicts, etc. All about that bottom line for them, though.

This is the best interview I’ve seen with him.

Ironically, it’s us signing Tony Cottee that gave him his chance when you hear it..

Paul Merson should seriously consider going back on the drink and drugs he talked more sense when he was on the drink and drugs.
