Those eyes. Those eyes have seen something....

Apt on a day when we face Manchester City, let's look at one of our former shared players.

A few similarities with Gareth Barry, he spent a large chunk of his career as Man City player, then moved here when he was 33. While he won nothing at City, and spent a bit of time in the lower divisions with them, he won the league title shortly after his move to Everton.

A solid and dependable all round utility player at times, he was one of those underrated players if I remember correctly. Upon his retirement, he joined our coaching staff but now works for Man City.

Great interview with him here, worth a watch:

Bog standard player who was lucky enough to join a great team at the tail end of his career. Did an OK bog standard job for us that season and ended up with the only silverware of his long bog standard career.
Despite him being a league winner with Everton, whenever I hear his name I can only ever connect it to Man City.
That about sums him up really.

Came to us at the end of a average career at City, was meant to be a squad stop gap and ended up playing almost every game that season, played a few positions and never let the side down, scored at Maine rd in a 3-1 win and didnt celebrate, had a nice end to his top flight career and have nothing but respect for a very professional man

He was a surprise signing for me . He was a solid professional and was absolutely integral to our last championship success for which I will always respect him . Whilst he was Man. City through and through he earned our respect and always speaks well of us. Top man.

...I thought he was terrific and did more than a 'bog standard job' that season. It was an odd purchase by Kendall but an inspired one. If I remember rightly, Van de Hauwe had to play CB most of that campaign so it was a major upheaval at the back. VdH showed what a class act he was but Power's contribution to seamlessly slot in and play so well was definitely a contributing factor to us winning that title.

All about opinions @Eggs.
As I said, despite him playing so many games in our title winning side, he made so little impact on my memories of that side that whenever I hear his name mentioned I just automatically think of Man City. It's like I had almost forgotten that he ever played for us.

I'm with Eggs.

Best crosser of a ball i've seen in a blue shirt,

i think i read somewhere he's at Goodison today to do something ?

He was one of underwhelming signings around that time as well as Aspinall, Billing, Langley, Adams. A very dependable lad and he knew his job at lb or lm and always put a shift in. Imho a class act in a team that was disrupted by injuries and unfortunate he was injured near the end of the season. I'm sure HK went mad when he didn't celebrate at city.

That was the only time I went to Maine rd, while we were waiting to get out someone opened the doors of a burger van, there were frozen burgers flying round like rock hard frisbees.
