Basically this states that the EPL wants an explanation as to why Howard didn't play against Utd. Now I would imagine that Tim Howard is STILL on loan. His loan expires at the end of the season, and we have pre-bought him, if you will, with his registration becoming ours the day the loan expires.

That is what I would surmise, especially seeing as the 'source' is the News of the World, hardly a reputable rag.

Well, according to the story, we logically could get six more points in exchange for whatever fine...

Stuart Benson, a director of relegation-threatened Fulham, was quoted in the Sunday Express as saying that clubs who lost points to West Ham when Tevez was playing should have them reinstated.
"If that means completely refiguring the entire Premier League then so be it," he said. "Every point is worth millions."

..could be a good piece of business. ;)

But looking at the story it seems pretty clear both from the direct quotes from the FA and the indirect ones from Ian Ross, which I remember reading at the time elsewhere, that the transfer is officially permanent.

Anyone of you know the FA or Premier League regulation offhand about fielding a weakened team - been searching Google but it has been no help. Lots of information about Surrey Sunday League or Tamworth Pub League but none (possibly deliberately) about Premier League clubs "resting" players because of third party involvement (external cup competitions).

Dylan I assumed the same as you, but if that was the case, surely either side would have said so by now?

So why are the RS not being picked up for fielding a weak side against Fulham.

As for the West Ham game did Tevez play against us?

As well as having the rules changed (again) so that they can sign and play Mascherano... ah well, just stick the knife into West Ham enough and they'll be forced to sell Tevez to one of the big boys, lovely game isn't it?

Well, I've got no complaints about getting away with it, but it just shows what a piece of [Poor language removed] the rules and regs are these days.

They are confident that we were free to play him if we wanted, are they? We just thought that we would give Ian Turner more experience in one of the more vital matches of our season, coincidentally, one which would also have a vital effect for Utd. Move closer, little FA officials, Uncle Steve has some more stories for you about fairies at the bottom of the garden...

This whole thing smells of bull excrement to me. If Howard was "free to play" he blooming would have done. Crazy. Ah well, who cares, we're in Europe :D

We're not signing Howard until the transfer window opens though are we? I appreciate that the agreement has been made but until the transfer window opens he would surely be a Man Utd player still. All a bit of a mountain out of a molehill if you ask me.

That is what I thought, Bruce. I agree with your opinion too. People trying to make something out of nothing.
