Pep for England manager

Yes he will definitely manage a national team at some stage of his career imo and it’s unlikely to be Spain
Definitely? No one can claim that

It has been expressed by Pep that it’s an itch he’d like to scratch but he also noted the probability has diminished with time

A lot would have to align for it but far from definitive

That's the type of manager who has enough tricks up his sleeve to get a team over the line. Too controversial for the FA to look at for England alas. Need a new Venables who has some of that x factor but is still acceptable enough for such a conservative organisation.

Ideally a Carlo type, but they are too unobtainable for national teams.

Pep is a good shout 👍👌 only thing that worries me is his style of play is very dependent on the benefits of club football being able to attract global players.

I guess you'd call me a Never Klopper 🤣 too bitter for that

People are sort of overlooking how pedantic Pep is with the specifics - you can barely do that at international level as you don't have the same amount of time/preparation.

People saying Klopp perhaps forgetting that Carlo had his measure both for us and Madrid.

Can’t believe he’s not shorter odds personally.

I don’t thin Pep or Klopp would be terribly good international managers. Limited talent pool, need to be tactically flexible. Perhaps they can but they’ve made entire careers out of being inflexible. Perhaps Pep would do well with the Spain squad.

Not for me. His teams are born out of hours spent on the training ground going over drills time and time again until the players get it spot on the way he likes it. National team managers just don't get that sort of time with the players. I guarantee his first thing would be to instantly insert a load of extra training camps which will just wind up the club managers.

Really good managers don't bother with international football.

Sadly, that is where the game has gone.

I might get abuse for this but Klopp (begrudgingly a good manager) is at the stage where he might take the Germany job, but apart from that there isn't anyone decent.

Let's face it, Martinez has had the best Belgian squad in history and then got another chance with Portugal, Koeman in charge of the Dutch and Southgate had overseen the best group of England players in decades. None of those are good managers.
Different skill set.
Dealing with Southgate every day would be hard, and you would take liberties.
Occasional access when all he tries to do is keep a good group of players harmonsised is probably what he does best
Koeman, playing 7 games of golf a week and managing a club football team is hard. International is different gravy, apart from the pesky tournaments every couple of years
