Transfer Rumour Philippe Coutinho

You can't keep just buying expensive players and not selling anyone for profit. That is just a suicidal way of doing business.
I think the wages freed up from Walcott and Bolasie would go towards signing a higher calibre player, whether that’s Coutinho or some other bloke who knows.

Surely if he comes in Sigurdsson is on his way

Not necessarily - we could just float the wages for 12 months and retain Sigurdsson as cover for Rodriguez. Not that I'm saying that this would be desirable if Sigurdsson were deemed surplus, but it may be deemed impossible to find an adequate replacement at his market value. Alternately, the player/prospective destinations may prefer to wind the contract down.

A player rolls around after a challenge, ref doesnt blow whistle. So goalie launches it forward but red team decide game should be stopped for foul not given. So great through ball by keeper for the striker to latch on to. Then boom goal and boom chase around the pitch

He'd be a player that could play off the left, which we'll need after Bernard leaves as we won't have a single player who can play there, as Richarlison is not an option. His technical ability and creativity would be important to us having more than 30% possession every game, which we'll need if we're going to finish in the top 4.

The age, injury history and lack of pace alone would put me off, but I can definitely see the arguments for.

Also, he'd cost £35m in the same way James was supposedly going to cost £20m according to the first reports.

Is this happening?

much rather buy this guy than watch Davies, Gomes and delph.

however can’t help thinking there’s younger potential out there with resale.

There was an article the other day which said that Gordon is going to get Bernards place in the squad next season.

do RS have a sell on clause

if they do, our buying of him would line thier pockets
Aren't sell on clauses only for when a club sells a player they have bought for a lot more than what they paid.

So unless we paid over 100 million there would be nothing going their way.

No, it’s built into a deal. So when Barca bought him Liverpool might have insisted within the deal there’s a future sell on %

Buying clubs don’t want them but sometimes it’s the only way to get a player. Similar to how Juve have the option to match any bid a club makes for Moise Kean if we tried to sell him.

Fair enough lid, I'm not clued up on transfers but only ever heard of sell on clauses in younger players who the selling club reluctantly agree to a sale they don't want to do but then insist on a sell on clause of a percentage above the agreed fee.

£15m upfront with the rest dependant on appearance etc. and a 'pay when you play' deal in place with him for his first season, rather than a set salary. Get it done Brands!

He is a very good player who has a similar curve to James - big money move at a huge club, turned sour then loaned out.

My issues will be money and where we play him?

Buy for no more than £20m and cut his contact in half or loan him with an option just like Bayern but not €120m!

He is a left side attacker which unless we are setting up 4-2-2-2 or taking Richarlison's spot

He was good at Bayern last season, his recent injury is a concern but only James comes close to him.
