PIENAAR?????

Why would he keep on telling the press about him wanting to stay if his intention was anything but mate? I'd have no problem if he said he wanted to play in the Champions League and have one last big fat pay day but he just blagged the fans, the ones who were cheering his stepovers and poor end product mate.

I don't think it was ever as straight forward as you make it out to be. His agent came out and talked about things like wages and the ambition of the club, and I seem to remember Pienaar getting criticised for keeping his mouth shut and not commenting. The brainless sheep who support us may have thought true bloo, local lad Stevie was going to sign on the dotted line, but I don't think that was the case for the clued up brothers in Blue. No way Jose, Baxter. Moyes was making noises about him leaving long before January, we knew what was happening, lets not kid ourselves.

It's just an easy excuse for poor preparation on the clubs behalf, really. Blame the snidey foreign lad.

So why all these then mate?

On three different occasions in the year before he engineered a move to Spurs. To reiterate, we offered for him to become on of our top earning players and he turned it down despite coming out with all this.

He's a fraud and we're over him. The man is a tit.

There's nothing wrong with that. It's sensible really, he's hardly going to say "No, it's **** here and I'm off", certainly not at that stage. Those quotes are also from the season before his last, when he was playing well and things where starting to look up. Arteta was back and we actually looked like a promising outfit, managers, players and fans thought we where genuine contenders for that 4th spot. I did myself, naively. I'm sure he was considering it as a genuine option at that point, but situations constantly change, and we deteriorated.

The following season, his last, the signs where there from an early stage really. We didn't improve the side in the summer, we had a **** start and got nowhere. You can't tell me things looked promising at any stage, it didn't. Whether we bring up quotes from Pienaar, Moyes or his agent. The situation was obvious, Pienaar was leaving.

Come on mate, I know you know how it went down. Your not a brainless lamb but an educated Kirk-by lad who has a Brown bin and had to get the train into town as a youth. Hell, you've even added a bit of foreign flair to your game over the years. Cuba, Scotland, Greece - Chinga tu made, puto.

Other than Rooney, which was to be expected, I can't think of one player we've sold who has gone on to be better with his new club.

matererazzi...and didn't Dacourt go to Inter Milan? Graveson did OK at Madrid too. Anyway that will change with the sales of Fellani, Rodwell, Barkley and Baines!

I said it long before he left on here and got laughed at for it, but Baines made him look twice the player he is.

I'm neither happy or sad he's gone. He fitted our system, but he was limited in skill. He wanted out, we got a fee for him. Sunrise, sunset.

This all day long.

Totally agree with the Azul on this as well but can't be arsed multi quoting. To engineer a move away is not such a crime, but to do so whilst still reiterating your desire to stay is pretty low.

Wouldn't go as far as booing him, but think peoples' image of him as a loyal club servant are slightly misguided.

I agree, I always said he was overrated. He fitted with us no doubt but as others have said I was neither happy or pissed off when he went. I think given the fact wenger has tracked him for years and didn't bother when he was available for peanuts says alot. ( pardon the pun).

I think in this day and age wingers need speed goals and creativity and he didn't excel in any of these. He hasn't been fit since moving to spurs but even when he is, will be no more than squad player.

Drenthe will be more of a loss if we can't hold onto him after this season!
