Planning to see Goodison before it's goodbye

A foreign chap asked a similar question last season.

My advice was to sack off the football, and go and enjoy the beaches of the Wirral - a more enjoyable day guaranteed.

It turned out I was right as the game he wanted to go to to was some grim home defeat.

Basically, my advice is the same.

I'm a Blue from Germany, currently living in Austria, and I have regretfully never been to Goodison because for most of my time as a Blue I've either been a school kid or a broke university student. Now that I've finally entered the workforce and I can afford it I want to go to a match before the place is gone.

Do you have any tips for me how to go about it? Ticket sales always start fairly close to the matches so planning ahead seems a bit difficult. I'm planning to go in the latter half of February so I can be miserable with some of you in the freezing cold.

Any input would be appreciated (also tips on where to stop stay and the like).

Thanks!

Our game in the latter half of February is against Manchester United, so getting tickets may be even harder as that match could be a relegation battle six-pointer.

I think after 14 years of watching every match I'm well prepared for this to be a possibility 😁
Win, lose or draw, I just want to experience the ground before it's gone and suffer alongside other Evertonians.

I can strongly recommend staying at the Titanic Hotel. It's not the cheapest option, but it's a really good standard and felt like like good value for money when I stayed there. There was a great view of the new stadium from my window, which was a bonus.

If you have a choice, go for a night game. It's incredible at Goodison under the lights.

That would be the dream. But I will take any match I can get.
