Carlos Bocanegra- 6 ( The Captain got turned inside out a few times, but was'nt all bad )

Landon Donovan-6 ( Did'nt do much, motor was running all game though, good effort )

Rico Clark- 5 ( would get a 4 had he not made a few big stops. The England goal was all his fault )

Mike Bradley- 6 ( The Coaches son had another solid game in midfield )

Clint Dempsey- 6.5 ( Had the 1 US goal, thx to Green.. Few hopeful shots, but not too impressive )

Disagree with you on Donovan... Donovan set up the most deadly chances of the match (minus Jozy's ownership of Carragher)... his services and composure on the ball in the midfield were absolute class - NO ONE else offered that option. Granted his efforts didn't lead to a goal, but you are overlooking the intangibles that the USA would lack without him on the pitch.

let me just say for the record: USA SHOULD HAVE WON THIS MATCH!

At the bar I was watchin the game (in Cleveland, OH) everyone was pleased with the draw, but upset we didn't take it from the English. Let's face it, the English SHOULD HAVE crushed the U.S... I actually thought that would happen in the first 3min fo the game after Gerrard's goal... but England crapped the bed (as usual) and the USA were in it to the end..... England were chasin the game against a squad that they should bury in the first 20min.... shame on England.

I am so pumped about this match it's unbelievable.... for being a top 5 team in the world, England sure looked like hell and the USA showed what their made of... so sorry for all of you who undersetimated USA ;)

Landon did'nt do much imo.. Without his effort on both sides of the ball though, I know we would be hurting..

Had to go to a funeral today so just finished watching the game.

Very Happy for the US a draw is a big win in my book.

But I fear Capello is self destructing. Is he second guessing himself? Milner & King subbed and Carragher is slow as a turtle Altidore left him for dead. Demerritt shut down Rooney for the best part of 70 minutes how does that happen?

Midfieids for both teams looked downright awful. I fear for England being relevant if they can't supply Rooney with better service he had to come deeper and deeper to make things happen. TBH Landon looked out of synch also. Don't really know what to make of this result for either team. I still have high hopes for them to move forward out of the group but both teams need to kick it up a notch.

Howard looked awesome. I'm still not a fan of Clark he let Gerrard go and paid the price for the early goal. Demerrit played beyond my expectations. The US seems fitter and there team athletism neutralized a superstar studded team. Beckham's face said it all it was total disbelief. Macca loved livid on the telly on ESPN.

Capello was a disgrace. He was worse than Green. Even an idiot knows that when your the coach of a team with confidence issues you shouldn't turn into a stark raving idiot when YOU STILL HAVE THE LEAD. Why is Jags off the team?? Hell if you are going to throw in high crosses again and again where is Baines? Why wasn't Upson starting?? Why is SWP on the left side?? Carragher???? You know who rarely saw Caraagher at CB this year, CAPELLO. Because the f$%ker was so awful he got platooned to the RB/goon position for just about all of 2010.

Howard 9 - this is his team now.

Cherundolo 7 - handled the RB defensive duties well, played 1/2 the match with a yellow but and still managed to throw in massive challenges.

DeMerit 7 - did some man marking of Rooney when Rooney drifted back and helped keep him quiet. He's starting to get a knack for stepping up his game in big matches.

Oneyu 8 - Had problems with Heskey at times but got better and better as the match went on, was massive defending crosses and corners. If it wasn't for Timmy he's would be MOM for going 90 for the 1st time in almost a year with a bum knee.

Bocangrea 5 - didn't notice much, he did get turned around but played good team defense covering when needed.

Donovan 6 - helped set up Altidore. Touch took pressure off the side at times. Didn't get service much if any service on the right given that Torres wasn't in.

Clark 5 - I also didn't notice much he let Gerrard run by him but Gerrard is going to do that to teams at times. Job was to cover the gaps on D and clear the lines which he did pretty well.

Bradley 6 - solid game, played smart and didn't run himself silly and tire himself out late like he's prone to do.

Dempsey 5.5 - Didn't show much but got the goal and was able to hold the ball on the attack to get some pressure off the defense.

Altidore 6 - Not sure why so many people are critizing his game today. He's alot like Yak is for us. Looks out of the game for long stretches but can pop up and get a goal anytime. Smoked Carragher and should have gotten him sent off. Was inches away for getting a goal.

Findley 5 - helped stretch the D on the attack at times to get space for Altidore. Made King work hard which got him off the pitch. He's no Davies but did what he had to do.

Subs: N/A

Bradley 8/10. Massive credit for the lineup and tactics as we got the result we needed. Kept it tight in the middle and made England go wide which put the game in the hands of SWP, Lennon and Johnson instead of Rooney. A loss could have meant that we could be out if we even won the next 2 (its GD and not head to head correct?). Took a chance on Gooch for 90min and it paid off nicely. Put Clark in over Torres/Edu which helped kept England's attack in check.

Pretty decent assesement there Nordecke. As I said before in the England vs USA match thread, was impressed by Cherundolo. Looks a very capable right back to me.

Chico I hate to say it Capello has a big problem on defense. When I mentioned earlier England wouldn't win the World Cup I reasoned the absence of any Evertonians such as Jags & Baines. To be a champion you have to have a solid back four and a better than average goalie. England needs Joe Hart between the sticks immediately.

Gooch just as much at fault as Clark for leaving the space Gerrard ran into to score.

Yeah, Clark needs to stay with his man and should get blame but to put it all on him is a bit harsh.

Overall though, I agree with the ratings.

My MoM was Cherundolo followed closely by Howard.

After watching the game again I agree.

Sorry to American friends here, but as a neutral, your team needs to make the next step of development in order to be consider a force in football. Playing with guts and strength to win games can only go so far, the next step up is to win with technical and tactical ability. I don't see much of these yesterday. I really hope you guys can reach that level soon, if there's any team that I hope to see as an emerging superpower in football, it's the team USA.

Great points..

We have made great strides.. Our youth programs are becoming more efficient and more tactically sound.. MLS is getting better which has helped alot these past 14 years.. We can show moments of brilliance, just inconsistent..
