…yep, I’ve always said he comes alive in the box but I think he does the same when the ball is played beyond CBs. I’m not saying he’s the answer but I feel we’d have been better keeping him here & not spending £15m on Maupay.
I haven't seen anything of him at Sunderland other than clips of goals etc so I can't give my own opinion but this lad was saying he'd be no use to us. He reckons he's lazy, clumsy, poor in the air, but very good at sniffing out chances to score. His opinion was that Broadhead was better, but he still likes Simms because ultimately everybody loves a goalscorer.

at least he has 1 attribute more than maupay

He does look slow and lazy. But he bags, has a record of doing it in the SPL, League 1, now the championship.

One difference is that your mate watched Broadhead playing in League 1and Simms in the Championship , but parts of it are fair . When I’ve seen him at Sunderland his willingness to move about the field has been good , and in one match I saw him actually head the ball twice , poor indeed but an improvement, it’s baffled me why someone so big is not better in the air. He’ll always be and look clumsy and probably continue to stumble over the ball . But at times he seems to have a kind of “ muscle memory” in the box, one touch to set it up next touch he shoots , he’s done it so many times it comes naturally to him. He‘s a decent Championship striker ……whether he can progress who knows, but he continues to improve a wee bit each season so I remain hopeful.

In theory, a Broadhead/Simms partnership would work pretty well in the Championship!
I'd say that's probably both there levels!
We are playing 4d chess getting them up to scratch for the Championship next year!

I certainly don't think either Broadhead or Simms are the long term answers to our striking problems but I can't help feel both would have had a part to play in the games gone by when you consider how limited we are.

Simms is a big physical unit who can score goals.
Broadhead is fast and canals score.

When you consider the wages that some players are on I doubt that savings on their loan deals will much difference to us.

I wouldn’t disagree with any of that . On the other hand both players are actually playing in the Championship, for them it’s better than warming our bench and getting odd minutes here and there. Effectively they’re in the Shop Window if we don’t want them, or if we buy a couple of decent attackers in January ( ha, as if!)

Can see Simms having a Jordan Rhodes type career.
