Nigel Martyn obviously we got him in the end but 7 years too late. Imagine transitioning from Southall to Martyn maybe it would have ended differently for Joe Royle. By 96 although he was still decent Southall needed replacing.

I had an old 442 magazine in a footy box in the loft. From the summer Walter Smith was brought in a think, we were linked with Rangers Gennaro Gattuso. He went onto sign for Salernitana and then Milan the following year. It was only a rumour but I imagine Smith would probably have liked to bring him with him.
