He's the one who was down on the deck, the opposition player kicked his head - and broke his own foot wasn't he?
Don't know about that but he was known as Bernie the bolt after the character in the Bob Monkhouse show " The golden shot ". Big build up .... bigger disappointment !

Has to be Mick Lyons ,but he was the epitomy of loser. His career started in 1971 the year after we won the title then finished in 1982 just in time to miss the 1980s winning team.
He even managed to miss the Andy King derby( through injury) our first victory in seven years against big stand united. Was he a jona or just unlucky as the 70s side was probably one of our best ever sides never to win anything.
Mick would genuinely have died for the Everton cause and deserves his place in our history.

Agree with this. The much maligned Mick Lyons would be a shoe-in ahead of all three current Everton CB's . Always remember working at Croxteth hall when big Mick came thundering past me training on his own. He did have the unlucky tag though !

Carsley, Unsworth for sure, Cahill, Rich Gough, Andy Gray and Peter Reid back in the 80s, recently Naismith, the guys who give 100% arnt always the ones with the best ability, look at Lukaku, best striker we have had in the Premier League era but for me he dosent always give us everything.

Kevin Kilbane......a bit like Marcus Bent.

Other than Tim Cahill who is the epitome of the level of commitment Everton demands there's one very obvious name missing from the thread thus far.

Gary Speed.

Had a quick read through the thread and pleased to see Mick Lyons getting so many mentions.
Honourable mentions for Andy King and Tim Cahill, but for me Lyons is definitely the stand out candidate for this particular accolade.
