Players who you wished they'd gave more of a chance

Mate, nobody is playing dumb here, this thread is subjective, everybody has a different opinion on who werent given a chance here and Rooney's name was just one of them, you've made a comment which you're perfectly entitled to do but you've thrown a cloak over all of the players mentioned, perhaps if you'd worded it better it would have been easier to understand from your point of view.

CONTEXT. Check which thread you are in.

even if you weren't sure I clarified for you in my reply

not sure why you are still arguing this

Mirallas....
Can't help but feel like the rats stamp in the derby affected him long term ...
Always up for the derby...
Miss having a player who likes to dribble and beat a man,
Hell of a finisher too

Bit of a rogue shout but thought Tyias Browning back in 2015 looked decent when he came through, had a bad injury I think and never recovered like quite a few.

Thought Chris Long at one point was going to get a few chances but never happened, same with Mcaleny but feel like every 18 year old we have breaks their leg as they’re not far from the first team - Only have to look at Onyango - Cursed club

I always thought Matt Jackson could have had a better career here even though he played over a hundred games for us. Loved that lad

Klaassen for me

came from ajax after they had reached the europa league final

was their captain

had high hopes for him and had his name on the back of my shirt

If you think of the list of midfielders who’ve failed here. Klaasen, Sigurdssen, Iwobi etc… I’d say they all clearly suffered as a result of Koeman’s bizarre recruitment.
He bought Sigurdssen, Klaasen & Rooney (we already had Barkley). We had no pace or width.
He’d have ruined Xavi or Iniesta!

Look at Iwobi this season. Gomes too. Klaasen game from an Ajax side full of pace & he was the one pulling the strings.
He‘d certainly do a lot better in this team now than he did in Koeman’s mess.

We signed so many random players under Moyes, usually as cover but ultimately rarely used and moved on without many appearance. Hard to know if any of them would have worked out, granted very few have gone on to be a success - but isn't that the point? That we never gave them a chance. Any wonder we are a graveyard for youth players, they just get loaned out as cannon fodder and get forgotten about (Garbutt etc) and by then their confidence is shot.

Loanees that came and went:
Enner Valencia (did well in his cameo appearances)
Lacina Traore (goal a game ratio...)
Kurt Zouma
Brian McBride
Eric Dier

We had dozens of defenders signed as emergency back ups, yet rarely played:
Mangala (awful)
Senderos
Gardner
Ferrari
Jacobsen
Hottiger
Li Weifeng
O'Kane
Cleland
Ibrahim Said (?)
Eddy Bosnar (??)

Not to mention the list of Keepers who bench warmed:
Nash
Baardsen (dreadful)
Hahnemann
Mucha
Westerveld
Wessells

A few that I think we could have kept were:
Lucas Neill (was a bit of a nutter and a much needed bit of snide)
Gary Speed
George Green (what happened him??)
Thomas Hitzslberger (probably got him too late in his career)
Nikola Vlasic

A couple of random Brazilians that were almost mythical characters, Rodrigo and Anderson Silva - were they any use?
