Nuno Valente is unsure of his future at Everton. The 34 year old Portugese left-back's contract runs out in June and as he hasn't played in a whole season, is wary that David Moyes may not want to renew his deal.

“It’s not an easy situation,” he told Record. “I would like to play one more season in England or elsewhere.

“It has been a complicated year, with two injuries and an operation, but happily I have recovered completely and I have been working with the team for over a month.

“The coaches and the manager have always supported me, but I understand that they would be doubtful about renewing my contract, as I have not played for almost a year.

“I always believed that I could return to playing, and I am ready to do so.”


What do people think, worth taking a chance for another year?

People are happy to see VDM go because he was a waste on wages - surely Valente is the same?

Yes he did something for the club - along time ago - but he's not playing - if Baines got injured he still wouldnt be playing - and he is just wasting wages.

I would give him another year, but clearly at a reduced rate and pay as you play. I like Nuno, always have.

Id offer him a player coach role as MG says on reduced terms, would be good cover for Baines as i dont like it when our three centre back all play (Lescott at LB). Leaves us short if one gets injured.

Would also save us the hassle of getting a Nuno replacement covering LB this summer and put the funds elsewhere.

Nope.
Baines needs someone to push him, and Nuno simply isn't doing that these days. However, LB isn't such a priority and if we understandably concentrate on other positions, maybe we could keep him on a pay as you play contract for another year.

Jags isnt back for ages, will be lucky if we see him fully fit this year. So that leaves us short, an injury to Baines, Lescott or Yobo and we are totally screwed.
