Right toffees - I've tried looking on mumsnet and nothing anybody said on the subject made any sense (people chat AROUND the question and don't answer it - why bother answering if you can't?)

I'll be fitting a new kitchen shortly and want a plinth heater to replace the rad that's taking up wall space. I don't want an electric heater, it will be plumbed into the existing central heating. If there is a fan I want it to come on automatically when it senses hot water, and go off after. I need about 1kW output most of the time. MOST IMPORTANTLY - I need the fan to be the QUIETIST. The kitchen is open plan and right next to my hifi!

I've already considered putting a bag of sawdust in front of the grille to absorb noise. I'd like your recommendations based on experience, of QUIET brands and models to consider thanks. There's got to be loads of you who've fitted these and know.

* if you're going to say such-and-such a model is really quiet and you happen to be deaf, please make this clear.

Cheers.

Did anyone suggest leaving it overnight in a bowl of rice?

We usually do suggest leaving it overnight in a bowl of rice.
