all jokes aside, feel proper sorry for Becks. Looks like a serious injury. He deserved to go the world cup, great role model and a great pro. There is no karma when melts like Terry look fine to go the World Cup

I'm proper gutted for the lad. Hope he can recover in time. It's essential we have that type of experience in the squad if we are to make a challenge.

I think he might retire.

Sounds serious, and i'm not sure that he could get over it properly, being 34.

Whats happened to him? As an outsider, my hope was that he'd go and captain the side, he's a good role model for the kids!

Very similar injury kept Yak out for 10months, and he's still not the same player he was, gutted for ya Becks

Becks down which in a way if probably good for England. If Terry seriously injures himself I actually think England might have a chance to win it.

Soccer Insider - Beckhams Career in Jeopardy

Some interesting comments:
Wow. Thoughts on what this means for MLS willingness to sell LD on a transfer to Everton if the other Gals star is now MIA? Any impact on MLS players union and approach to possible strike, with reminder that players' careers can end in one moment?

Arena is going to hold on to Donovan for dear life.

I feel so very sorry for David. Despite all the media rubbish I think he's a smashing lad. He's an Essex boy (a geographical term, not a term of derision) who, when he was a schoolboy, used to kick a ball about on Wadham Lodge playing fields, across the road from where my wife grew up, in Walthamstow. My wife's cousin is a good friend of David's mum and my stepson is on a 'Soccer' Scholarship in America, so there is a sort of English/American, Football/Soccer connection that I feel quite proud to be associated with.

David loved playing for his country more than anything else in football and, despite his wealth, no money in the world can make up for the terrible sadness that he feels right now. Chin up, Becks, you will still be prouder than the rest of us outsiders when England lift that World Cup again, because you left a never-say-die stamp on the team that many of us who support this club wish had been present at Birmingham on Saturday. :(

OK, I'll admit it was present in the Birmingham team!
