I'll vote for Hillary - to my (little) mind, she's clearly the lesser of two evils. For all her weaknesses (and they are legion), the fact is that she will be less of a disruption to our economy, our relations with other countries and to our society than will Donald. His lack of awareness (or lack of caring about same) of so much is truly disturbing. From fiscal/monetary policy to diplomatic relations to constitutional law, his ignorance is glaring, and more disturbing to me than Hillary's weaknesses.

Regardless, I see either one being a one-term president. Oh what I would have given for Jon Huntsman to come back and gain some traction.
I agree Hillary seems to have the support staff to keep things moving and not piss people/nations off too much. But personally I just can't stand the air she projects. In a more simpler time she would be have to be answering more for her flippant national security ways. I do agree Trump comes off as abrasive and less tactful which disturbs many of the sleeping majority but his message resonates with the aging population who once believed the US had no equal in industry, finance and innovated thinking. Now we sit here with industry fleeing to the south and east or just going bankrupt. Financially we are a wreck as Yellen can't raise interest rates as this would be servicing more interest on the debt. Business as usual is over as a fresh perspective is needed but I don't feel either nominee fits the bill either. You have to like Bernie with his hairdo but he would have put us in a deeper hole than we would already be in. Such is life. Reminds me a lot of the Edward Heath, Harold Wilson days the lesser of two evils.

Agreed re the "air she projects" - she in no way has the ease about her that some of our past Presidents have had - that includes Reagan, Bush (both 41 and 43), Clinton and Obama. And part of being a successful president includes, I think, the ability to project to every day citizens that you can understand their struggles and perspectives, even if you can't fix problems with a wave of a wand. Hillary clearly doesn't have the sense of self allowing herself to relax. At the same time, I don't see the same in Trump. He, to my mind, is the class bully/clown playing to the class when there's a substitute teacher in the room. in this case, with no dominant, traditional candidate in the room, we have a group of "substitute" candidates that all stepped forward.

There are many changes occurring in the economic, cultural and political worlds - looking at our history, there's never been a time that hasn't had significant changes - and there are many fresh ideas and viewpoints required. Trump's brand of "ignorant populism" (my term) doesn't seem to have the ability to understand and creatively address the changes we are now experiencing, as well as those in upcoming years. Hillary, while appearing to not be able to have a "genuine" moment, does seem to see how complex our world is and that we can't just "build a wall" or "bomb the s**t" out of something to actually solve the problems.

From the other Republicans, I thought Kasich would have had more resonance in the primaries, but Trump's persona just knocked the air out of all the others. For the Democrats (and I am registered as such), Bernie is the crazy uncle that occasionally blurts out a truth, but in reality, will go back to the old folks home as soon as dessert is served at the family dinner.

Ok, off the soap box now, for a few minutes - time to get back to work.

This man could be president....

Back to work also.

I agree Kasich would be a softer more conservative pick but has no following whatsoever outside of Ohio a important battleground state. Bernie as Uncle Fester does come to mind after what you were saying. Fits him to a tee.

I agree with a earlier comment you made whomever wins they will only be a one hit wonder.

Which could make me go drinking right now, on a Friday afternoon, but I've work to do and, frankly, a soccer match to ref at 8:40 this evening for a local youth tournament. So no drinkee for me.

(But if I were to go, it'd be Laphroaig 10 yr. just to get the Trump taste out of my mouth!)

(nods)

1. This is the "be careful what you wish for" election. Whoever wins will regret running even more than the loser.
2. Considering the age of both prospective nominees, I can't see it playing out any other way.

The Ted Heath/Wilson era comment above is a good comparison to the current degree of lockup in the system.

“As soon as we informed Hillary that she had reached the number of delegates necessary to secure the Democratic nomination, she thanked the staff and then promptly began secreting a thick, resinous substance from her oral gland and fashioning it into a protective casing around herself,” said Hillary for America communications director Jennifer Palmieri, explaining to the press that Clinton has been eating several times her body weight daily while campaigning in preparation for the energy-intensive hibernation and metamorphosis process. “She completed her encasement several hours ago and is now pupating comfortably inside. As we speak, Hillary is rapidly altering, developing an entirely new anatomy and a complex vision for a united, prosperous America that works to lift up each and every one of us.”

“You can rest assured that once Hillary uses her powerful mandibles to chew her way out of the cocoon, she will emerge stronger than ever and ready to take on Donald Trump,” Palmieri added.
