English teams are never really good at pressing.
Even City and liverpool are miles behind these
Tactical and technically we're miles behind foreigners...

Even going back to sunday and saturday league, get a decent Spanish/italian/french side vs English and we'd get absolutely battered

I think it depends on the players we sign. We sign load of guys who are tactically so dumb, and they seem to do a lot of running but actually do nothing at the same time. Take Gylfi for example, he can run 10Km often in a game, but at the same time have no impact.
If we targeted the right players I see no reason why, we couldn’t play a high tempo football, to match most teams in Europe.

To be fair, at time of writing the match is only 5 minutes in. The adrenaline these players will be feeling, plus nerves, no wonder they are charging about at the off.

For us, we are just a very poor team with no motivation. The pressing will be done by somebody else

Household tip No.16; I usually favour a damp cotton tea towel when I do my pressing

It’s not just pressing, we need to be quicker in general. For years now we just seem to have to knock the ball around the back for absolutely ages before even thinking about mounting an attack. This lets the poorer teams get 11 men behind the ball and the better teams pile on the pressure with the press.

That’s one thing I noticed about Branthwaite last season. He seems to play the ball quicker than most others in the team. We need that across the team so other teams don’t get time to set themselves.

Pressing is one thing we are lacklustre at,movement off the ball being another, courage to take the ball in difficult situations being another.

You need certain mentality to be successful in the modern game because the wages are so high, it's easy to be comfortable whilst being bang average at your job. that's where we are now.

We have a load of players happy to coast along on huge wages until retirement with no real desire to win anything.
