Usually once a pub is gone it’s gone forever, about 240 closed in just the first quarter of 2024, together with all the jobs they generated and the social community they provided…a shame really……,

Tell me about it. My local (for 50 years) closed a couple of months back and is currently being revamped into a school :rant:

I had previously read that article. What people buying from Tesco and the like don’t realise is that cross subsidisation from other products keeps the price down and they have massive buying power with the beer producers. We buy beer etc from the same supplier at higher cost, but we also buy beer from small brewers as guest beers which keeps them alive. If they kill the pubs, the price charged in Tesco etc will go up, and it’s not as though you can set up a table in Tesco to have a pint, play dominoes or a game of darts. If they kill us all off the country will become a miserable place…….
