A good example: West Brom have spent the last couple of years spending the parachute payments to rebuild and get back up. They don't receive these payments next year. Is it fair that they are denied the opportunity to get promoted after some years of sensible housekeeping and recruitment but Norwich have another 38 games in a league they're not good enough for?

PPG isn't a brilliant way of deciding something but I'm dubious about moral equivalency when saying one team has more of an argument than another when looking at the Norwich / West Brom argument.

That's why I believe 'sporting integrity' to be a false flag.

But Norwich could still mathematically stay up.....and West Brom could still mathematically not get promoted.

We've seen it happen plenty of times in the prem, teams going on a mad run in last 10 games and staying up

At the end of the day, the league is supposed to be played over 38 games, teams' form goes up and down over those 38 games. If you stop it before those 38 games are completed you dont have a complete league.

The fact that West Brom have had a few years of sensible housekeeping doesnt mean theyre entitled to a promotion when the season hasnt even finished yet / If Norwich went on a mad run in the last 10 games and stayed up they would be staying up on merit

How can you go 3/4 through a season then start changing rules and regulations?

Subs, VAR, home and away grounds are part and parcel of the season.

If a club goes down because a VAR check wasn't there and the 5th sub scores (you know that's so Everton BTW) it's just more and more ridiculous this is still going on.

If the rules change, the whole integrity of the league or football is pure BS.

Not sure why people are arsed about the number of subs. The games are meaningless anyways, only reason they're being played is for the money. At least the additional subs can hopefully reduce injuries across the board and give young squad players some minutes.

All true. Either scenario is based on speculation of what might happen; “what if...”

On balance, can anyone say Norwich really deserve 38 more games of top flight football? I’m not saying one way or the other, but I’m certainly reluctant to use terms like ‘sporting integrity’ as a means of suggesting there’s a fairer way out of this. It’s a false flag.

100%

You can replace half your outfielders now.

Ridiculous.

Here is a great idea Premier league bosses or should i say tossers as that would be more accurate. Lets have 3 quarters of a season long competition with one set of rules and then just completely change them to whatever you want for the last quarter just to make sure that the season is completed and the champions are crowned.

Zero credibility, not that they actually had any cred left to begin with.

Yep, no integrity about the league and the teams only wanting to finish the season for money but the new (I assume temporary) 5 subs rules can only be a good thing for players considering that the teams have to play a lot of games in a short space of time and some will probably also have domestic cup games/European games on top?

That's not the reason though....the reason is players will not be match fit...the remaining matches are a glorified preseason friendly tournament....
Clubs have specific and strategic preseason training every summer, there's a clear sports science to all this preparation.... All this is being ignored to play these games.... It insures the league is completed, but its a farce, and it's particularly unfair to the clubs who will be relegated....its not a fair competition anymore because nearly half the teams will be just going through the motions to fulfill their games, players won't be fit, but worse alot of players simply won't care (as their club is mid table)... It means most results each week will be questionable...team selections will be questionable (a manager will play his strongest team in the first game back, but then likely have to rest players next game as he would during preseason.... A team will be relegated because they played a strong team, and their rival got lucky by playing against a reserve team... How is that a fair league?)...

Only relegating 3 teams based on a calculation wouldn’t only affect Norwich would it?

Dependent on which PPG method they chose, there’d be 2 different outcomes, under one West Ham would go, and under the other Bournemouth would. How can that possibly have any level of fairness or sporting integrity? so sorry it isn’t a ‘false flag’ at all, it’s the key point for why a PPG outcome is utter gonads.
