Proposed changes to the Premier league

Amazing how quick the EFL owners would sell out for a bit of extra cash, though.

Or not amazing at all when the alternative for a substantial minority is Armageddon and going out of business completely.

They're desperate, people will lose their livelihoods, jobs, huge debts owed, bankruptcy and communities with no club - it's not hard to think they might grab a lifeline wherever it came tbh.

No idea foot long I'm just thinking if you make a supposed threat you will have thought of consequences otherwise it becomes unbelievable, we've had a day to ponder over likely scenarios and perhaps not surprisingly struggle, they've had s month and might well have a more realistic one. We're also without their knowledge of all possibilities.

It could even be joining the EFL championship with a new name, entry into the European competitions guaranteed, as I say it's difficult to think in a day or two without all the relevant information and match what they've come up with in a month, they may have something far more likely and viable
THe FA are the only ones who nominate those clubs for European places

There's nothing to stop the P L giving a generous sub to the E F L ... doesn't need organisational changes to do that. Although I have never seen why there has to be 4 professional divisions.

Parry has been EFL boss for a while and has done nothing to get money to them up to now. Why aren't they asking him about that? A cynical person would say he's deliberately sat on his arse and done nothing, knowing that this plan was being drawn up to force their hand.

Some of the rules make sense, I’m just not on board with the power shift and going down to 18 teams. Perhaps the rule should be you have to be in the premier league for a minimum of 1 season before being allowed to vote?

Still think we should take advantage of these times to bring in Scottish football...love a Celtic away day.

The irony..

-Big six charge EFL clubs when loaning players
-Big six poach players from EFL academies to avoid substantial transfer fees
-Big six reject deal to give EFL greater share of receipts in Cup games

Suddenly the big six are interested in the football pyramid and helping clubs they havent ever heard of.

Pull the other one.

Embarrassing from said clubs and the EFL.

That is as of now under their agreement with UEFA. The organisation of leading European clubs have been meeting for some time and a European super league has been more than mooted.

They won't be interested in the more minor teams only the elite, there is no way they'll pass over the big six in favour of what's left that's not how it works, they want it to go worldwide for interest and TV rights. The European cartel of elite clubs brought in FFP to protect against outsiders, thats now in ruins but the direction of travel is clear. Big money and big business will want big teams with leading players. This will be a new reformated Europe - from 2024 and the new TV deals, what's envisaged is the likes of Barca, Real, Bayern, PSG, Juventus etc etc being joined by Liverpool not Burnley.

Uefa will have to respect the FA as they are a member of FIFA
FIFA will not allow UEFA to ride roughshod over the FA

Don't be daft. They won't go against the fa. There is more to it than just an agreement with uefa.

There nothing even saying the European organisation of leading clubs will not run their own competition, truth be told UEFA in effect is run by them anyway. That crook Platini may be gone but his placemen still run it as corruptly as ever, Agnelli and the like have been plotting for years, it's big interests, the leading clubs and big money.

UEFA's national teams have won the world cup every four years for some time now, they've dominated the competition recently and their club sides are even more predominant in world club football, UEFA without its leading clubs would lose sponsorship, TV rights and commercial interest it would be nothing, it's not going to happen.

UEFA is the leading player within FIFA and world football and it's leading clubs can in effect dictate to UEFA - all above board in apparent negotiations, they will have their way. In a way this is just a successor to the shambolic FFP, the elite cartel of European clubs wants protection and to be able to maximize their earning power.

The big European clubs have long been envious of the financial wealth of the premier league, they felt excluded and see the super league as a way of sharing it, roping in the leading clubs from England and selling the rights worldwide, if they can simultaneously diminish the value of the prem, so much the better

Platini's gone but his spirit lives on

Justn reading on Sky then, saying we'd be one of the 9 clubs with 'extra power' basically.

What absolute nonsense this is. We'd "benefit" from it but yet have to be against it. How can it be a fair competition then? How can ANY club have a say in what other clubs can do without a conflict of interest?

The FA have an agreement and golden share with the premier league, if they leave the premier league then they have no influence over them. UEFA will do what their leading clubs want they always have.
