Steevie, if you want to hook both of them up to the 'net at the same time without having to disconnect the PC or PS3 each time just purchase a basic router, it doesn't have to be fancy. Most of them come with 4-5 ethernet ports. This is the easier way to go, unless swapping cables all the time doesn't bother you.

Is it that simple then. Ive got my ethernet cable going into my pc with my ps3 on the other side of the room not connected.

But i have a router which is not being used so could i hook that up and then stick my bluetooth wireless dongle in my ps3 or does it have to be through the actual cable.

And then once my ps3 is connected is it easy to use online gaming?

Cool, i might get round to doing that some time if i can be arsed to set the router up.

I don't play the ps3 much at the best of times so would probably play online even less but if ive got the function to do it i might as well cheack it out and give it a go.

So i need just a router then mate? I will still need another ethernet cable wont i mate? (y)

Open the lid of your PS3, don't worry it wont ruin the guarantee, add two to three handfuls of sawdust, screw lid back on and leave overnight.

Done what you said mate but i have found no improvement, infact when i woke up this morning, my brand new PS3 turned into a tree. Thanks a bunch lad! :@ (y)

Only if you buy a router that doesn't do wireless...which are pretty rare now. The Slim's got built in Wi-Fi mate, as Fozzy said, so you don't even need a cable, although I personally prefer the guaranteed connection of ethernet. I just don't trust connection reliability of wireless, in general. But, if you buy a wirelesss router you can always try that first and go to ethernet later if you want.
