QPR MEMORIES

As it's been a while since we last played Queens Park Rangers has anyone got any fond memories of this fixture? For me obviously clinching the league title against them in 1985 and being at Loftus Road back in October 1977 when we beat them 5-1 with the Latch getting four. They (QPR) were a decent outfit in them days, also being at Loftus Road when Sharp got the winner on the road to winning the league in 1987 and our first league win on a plastic carpet

Not exactly a fond memory but I remember Les Ferdinand looping a header over Big Nev at Goodison as I watched depressed in the lower bullens under Mike Walker at the start of 94/95. He loved scoring against us did Lesley. It was either at the end of that game or losing 2-0 to Coventry that they played "Things can only get better" by D-ream as we walked out. They probably should play it at the end of every game now.

Andy Hinchcliffe scored a belter of a free kick from about 30 yards in the game at their place that season though. Brett Angell started I think and our fans gave him dogs abuse. I dont think he helped his cause by being similar height to Big Dunc but whereas Dunc leapt like a salmon poor Brett could never seem to jump more than an inch off the floor. Think we won 3-2.

think i was at that away game, when hinclcliffe scord i was in the upper stand, it has to have one of the worst views in footy , the goal at are end could not be seen other than a few inches under the crossbar, so you had to go on the fans reaction to know if it had gone in. if anyone is going this year bottom teir or front of top or dont bother.

Was at the 85 game. Brilliant. Didn't go to Bob's October (goal) fest in 77 but was at Goodison to see the return in April 78. Entertaining but disappointing 3-3 draw. Gutted watching Ernie Howe's looping header drop agonizingly over Georgie Wood and into the net.

85 great day tha i was only 14 me arl fella took me that day with his mates as i usualy went with my own mates class class day.
the only other qpr game tha stands out for all the wrong reasons is wen they tonked us 5-0 at goodison ray wilkins scored 3or4 as i recall we were absolute ****3 an i mean sh1te not many worse efc pefromances than that in our history cant recall the year tho they wore black an red hoops ???

100 years ago I went to Goodison to see us play QPR on a Saturday afternoon. One of the worst matches I have ever seen in my life. Oddly enough, we won 1-0 with a goal from Mick Lyons - a diving header which was one of the best goals I have ever seen in my life. :)

Was that only 100 years ago? Seems like yesterday.

remember Peter Reid rattling the G.S. crossbar whilst playing for them, it may have been a corner of ours that he skewed and nearly cracked the goalframe, just remember the look on his face as he looked up into the St.

Remeber us getting gubbed 3-5 at home in about 1992 or so. We were 1-5 down until right at the end, when Preki and Barlow grabbed late consolations. Ferdinand was absolutely phenomenal that day.

85 we had all 4 sides of the ground didn't we............those were the days ,when we knew we would win every game

and a shock to even draw

cheers Bill

This.

Was at that game right behind the goal. Hinchcliffe curled a beauty from the left hand side of the box into the top right hand corner with his left foot.

It was in the newspapers the next day with a photo on the back page taken just about the ball had left his boot.

Right in the middle of the goal you can see me with that 'Snatch' look on my face wearing a black and orange umbro training jacket. I still have the newspaper cutting somewhere.

Find me that picture, and I will show you where I am...

Brilliant day.

Good lad Bally!

Remember the goal fest, hadn't they just finished 2nd the year before? Didn't we win 4-0 down there as well a year or 2 later?

85 remember queing up outside pre match and it pissing down, the price of the bobble hats being sold went up by about 3 -4 times haha.

Les Ferdinand, nuff said, bad times!!

Andy Hincliffe free kick, gave big Dunc a lift from Caldies to the Left Bank on Church Road the day after. I had taken my nieces and my then baby girl to the park and it started pouring we ran back to the car and started to drive home, only to see the the big fella standing under a tree on the corner by Booker Ave. I went over to get his autograph for the kids, which he gave and then asked if I knew where a phone box would be to call a taxi, pre mobile proliferation kids, so I asked where he was going and offered him the lift. The kids literally feinted as he walked over to the car, he was a true gent with the girls and was dead relaxed with them. Sound bloke. Remember he was wearing Nev's goalie top from the game as he'd bought it at a charity auction after the game. He was suspended as well and had gone to watch the boys, probably why Brett Angel played as mentioned earlier!!
