Homepage Article Rafael Benitez Appointed Everton Manager

That's like the fools that go on Bargain Hunt and say I'm going to buy cheap and sell for a massive profit.

I can defo see Fabian Delph crapping himself and performing well because of a threat from Benny the Ball.

Old style managerial man management by the likes of Clough , Freguson etc just doesn't work with today's pampered millionaire players.
We'll see.

It'll be Rafael's Way or the highway.

Benitez is backed up by an Uzbek warlord. Can you imagine goldilocks Tom Davies facing that force down - he'll be on his skateboard doing 90 miles an hour if Uzzy turns up in Halewood.
If you think Tom Davies is our main problem I’m not sure you’re watching much of us , of course it might be you used him as an example to shoehorn in a clumsy skateboard story .

They won't be arsed.

These losers will just sit there on their big salaries and lengthy contracts laughing at Benny the Ball.

If he get's shut of the galloot and the other clingers on from the first team coaching staff he'll stand a better chance.

I dont see him as the main problem. What gave you that idea?

Both are winners if you're just going off their CV. They have very different styles of management though. I'm hoping Benitez' style is more suited to where Everton are right now.

Well to a degree, one is a much bigger winner than the other, but didn't get that across.

In a roundabout way, I suppose I'm saying I don't see Benitez putting a winning mentality into the players. The good news is, with some quite marginal gains, we can make a fair bit of improvement.

He’s one of them. Our competitors have some of the top midfielders in the world in that position such as Kante, Pogba, Fernandes, Kovacic, Fabinho, De Bruyne, Gundogan, etc. Nearly all of them are at the euros or the copa America and some of them are frankly the best players in their national team and have lit up international tournaments or the latter stages of the CL. Tom Davies wasn’t anywhere near consideration for the England team, he may never be. Yet whenever he gets questioned as not good enough people jump to his defence because they see it as an attack on a local lad or making fun of his pastimes of fashion or skateboarding.

I’ve no issue with anything he does off the pitch but on it he is nowhere near good enough, nowhere near. Getting annoyed by people saying this is just sentimental.

He might meet Mr Ferguson and understand why so many managers have decided to keep him around. Mr Ferguson is supposedly a deep thinker, a complex but articulate man who understands the nuances of modern football tactics; be that in the domestic leagues or the continental game.

Benitez has inherited a squad honed to such physical and mental sharpness ...(thank you Carlo!!)...that the only reason for his not succeeding in maintaining Everton's presently bulging trophy cabinet, is because the conspiracy theorists are bang-on...and that he is indeed a Kopite fifth columnist.

Just a question though, if Ancelotti- a far more decorated, successful and high calibre manager couldn't build a winning culture, what chance has old Beneathus got?

How can you Build a winning culture with players who don't care about losing? The answer is you get rid of those players.

Unless I'm missing something Carlo had one active transfer window..... So if you expected him to transform the team in a short space of time then you must think our players are better than I do.

I'm really not sure where this idea Benitez is going to structurally change the club is coming from. There are manager who do that. To a degree Moyes did that. Ralf Rangnick does this. He involves himself in every fibre of the club.

Benitez on the other hand is one of the most singular and tunnel visioned managers out there. He wants lots of money to spend, on whatever players he deems will help him over the next 12-18 months. There's very little thought beyond that, very little thought of what happens if a cub can't afford it, or is a club ends up bankrupt as nearly happened to Liverpool. The idea he is going to resolve the contradictions that exist just isn't the the case at all, he will widen them.

He has also not built a winning culture anywhere. At Valencia he inherited a team that had got to the CL final and won a league with 76 points. The culture was already there. At Liverpool he won 2 trophies, 1 fortunately on penalty kicks and one in extra time. Houllier had won more and put the winning culture in.At Chelsea he came into a side that had already won multiple leagues (which he failed to do). At Napoli he came into a side that came 2nd, he left them in 5th. At Inter and Madrid he came into elite teams, champions of their own countries and Europe and flopped in both jobs. The only club he managed who didn't previously have a winning culture was Newcastle, he took them down, rectified his mistake with promotion before getting the same points and position as Steve Bruce. So unless Steve Bruce has put in a winning culture, Benitez hasn't either.

None of the above means he can't be successful here, or move us forward. But notions that he is going to make the squad winners is completely fanciful.

I'll tell you 1 other thing, if he tries to read the riot act to players and "take no messing" he will get Ronald Koemaned by the players straight away. If that's his plan, the players are going to know pretty much everyone hates the fella as he's a pretty loathsome individual with very little going for him, and they will just smell that and throw him under the bus. So if that's his plan, he needs to get a new one quite quickly.
Benitez operated on a net loss at Newcastle
