He was only in a job 18 months though so obviously his win percentage is gonna be higher than the likes of Moyes and even Martinez by default. Martinez was a better Everton manager than Ancelotti.
Martinez did have our best Premier League striker mind and managed successive 11-place finishes.

The thing with Ancelotti is last season I was happy to say he should have done better. The position we got ourselves in, even including the injuries (which were bad) by the turn of the year, to then lose to bloody Newcastle and Villa and Burnley and Sheff Utd at home. It's maddening.

Fact remains, if we'd won 2 of those we'd have been in Europe. And we should have won two of those at least and that's where Ancelotti underwhelmed and ultimately failed.

I just don't understand why the muppets (or muppet) in charge of the club decided what we needed to do after falling short was simply tear everything up when Ancelotti left and hand power to a dreadful manager who impressed Moshiri by having a wyscout subscription.

A wyscout subscription that I guess he must only have used to keep tabs on how Rondon was getting on in Russia/China.

On a human level, watching this, I feel bad for the man. He's clearly had a phone call before this presser to tell him he's done at the club and he's just being professional going ahead with it. You can see it in his face when he talks about the future as if he's still going to be here. But it's the right call to sack him even if the dressing room is a mess

Wait until you hear how he speaks about the club and the fans after his dismissal before you have any sympathy for that man.

I think me and you share similar stances on Ancelotti. I just see red whenever anyone starts pining for the “good old days” under him acting like we were actually any good just because what followed him has been a complete implosion.

What an absolute disaster he’s been.

Lost our left back and now it’s absolutely certain we’ll lose Richi in the summer. Say what you like about Brands but Benitez has also ripped up our entire football model.

The most damaging appointment in the history of the club.
He’s up there with the European ban for the worst thing even to happen to this club , I despise the appointment and how its made me feel but the damage its done is far from over . This could finish us , people need to hand their heads .

See red all you want. We won games.

Funny that we haven;t seen the word "fat" in the last 12 hours or so on here.

'Classy'.
Can’t believe you actually have the brass neck to show your ignorant and incredibly obnoxious presence lol

Then I remember it’s you.

Do you never, ever get tired of being wrong and the forum jester?

Are you dressed in jester clothing? With a stick and the little pointy hat?

In all seriousness, you backed the wrong horse again David, try and be slightly humble about it instead of turning into a basket case.

You calling people out here is incredible after the stuff you’ve come out with on this forum.

Benitez is a loser, you and him make good bedfellows :coffee:

Yeah I get that.

I think the difference we've seen is as much as he underwhelmed, there's a minimum level of quality and tactical nous you get from having a manager of his level here. Not saying he was right for the long-term approach, and if we'd have wanted to push on under him we'd have had to spend money that we don't actually have. So I doubt Ancelotti would have taken us anywhere other than have us safely mid-table, and that's obviously not enough for someone on £12m a year.

And it comes back to the point. Everton don't need much to immediately improve. First thing is safety, but that doesn't mean you need a firefighter. Because of who we're playing, three teams around us in the next three games, then we need 7 points and I honestly think we'll have done enough to propel ourselves clear of two of the sides down there, and then it's about building from there. But christ we're in trouble at the moment.
