Gray
Doucoure
Keane

The only 3 players he never played tonight when you factor in Allans knock and Mina's injury record when played too often.

Keane has been awful all season so far, Gray did nothing when he came on and Doucoure is good but hardly a game changer.

You're talking as if Richarlison, DCL, Pickford, Coleman & a few others were fit and available yet not selected.

You've already said you want the manager out on the back of this one result which is why others are saying its OTT.

You're a good lad Tim I know you are just angry after a cup defeat - you'll sleep it off and no doubt admit yourself in the morning you over reacted slightly so we'll leave it as that.

Still angry at the players and the arrogant team selection by the manager.

The audacity to rest 5 or 6 more players when we had 5 or 6 out is crazy. He got it badly wrong, and is banking on a win in a game on saturday that should be a routine win for any manager. So what he wins on Saturday, it changes nothing. He didn't take a match seriously and we are out.

If we can praise him for the form of gray and townsend, are we allowed to ask wtf he has done to Godfrey, Digne & Keane??!!
The manager is slowly improving them with his teaching technique.

“When we finish every training session, they have to be sure they learned a little bit – 0.5 per cent [improvement] in one training session.

And luckily for us blues
You have to win, win, win. That was part of my education.

Once we have all been educated we will understand what is happening. ?

MEGA COYB

so, we lost a game on pens - the meltdown on here is comical, tom davies who can’t kick a loaf of bread missed,so we’re out and now the clubs a mess lol lol lol lol oh GOT you lol
Unfortunately Matty, we are a mess, regardless of who sits in the dugout, its a top down issue and permeates throughout the club presently.

it needs sorting mate and it isnt a quick fix.

tbf here though Tim, I just think we get beat tonight more because the 'system' that some on here are fantasizing existing about is, well, non-existent.

Keane and Doucoure should probably start tonight (Keane definitely) but bloody hell other than that this side is close to what will play v Norwich and Man Utd. We're just crap mate.

And, even with our best players available, we aren't that good.

We've created two real chances I can think of for DCL this season. The one v S'ton that he scored and then the one v one v Leeds that he missed. Other than that his only two chances have been pens.

Our whole thing is based on hard work etc but there's just a huge lack of quality.
We need hard work and quality. One on its own is not enough

Quality is irrelevant if you have a lazy gutless bunch of players. You earn your right to play in english football.

The centre halves and central midfielders were rested - all 4. And it cost us the match. I never want to see Holgate and Godfrey or Gomes and Davies together ever again. Why are we still watching them? We know they are not good enough as pairs.

Glad in a way that he got to see just how bad some of our “squad” players were last night. Kenny, Holgate, Gomes, Davies, and Iwobi covered themselves in no glory last night and can only really be trusted for cameo purposes within a fully fit XI. Benitez will have their numbers now.

Do you honestly think we had any chance of winning the League Cup? It's harder to win than the fa cup, and is almost entirely Premier League teams. Even if you can make the latter stages, Man City and Chelsea have such deep squads one of them wino doubt win it. It's not worth risking injuries for. We are 2 or 3 injuries away from fielding one of the worst teams in the league and getting ourselves into a relegation battle. We have to make sure we can stay mid-table and then hope for a couple of signings in January and good luck with injuries and then hopefully we could sneak a European place or an FA Cup run.

it looks like we would struggle to be honest :-(
Don't even go there.
I know it's all hypothetical but defeatest talk spreads like fire.
Even myself, a definite glass half empty bloke, refuses to think that scenario.
But you're correct in that we'd get bullied every game as clubs would see us as a prize scalp every match

Oh the relegation battle rubbish. Of course we aren't going down. We are heading for nothing other than midtable irrelevance.

We are resting players to come 10th or 11th. It's just utter stupidity.

other than starting his best squad available, and given the injuries we're picking up almost daily now i can understand not wanting to run the few key players we have left into the ground - I'm not sure what else Benitez could have done. For me this falls on the same group of players that have bottled it repeatedly under the last 3 managers. I mean, the great Carlo Ancelotti couldn't get a tune out of them.
I understand the dislike for Benitez and there will be plenty of games where he'll be to blame but for me i don't think last night was one of them.

Our current team is worse than some of the teams who've been relegated in the past. However Norwich and Burnley look terrible this season so there's probably only 1 place up for grabs. We have Benitez who knows how to organise so we can scramble through, but make no mistake if we'd appointed a riskier manager we could quite easily be in relegation trouble if we got a few injuries. The squad is paper thin.
