He'd know the gaf much better than a stranger. And time is off the essence. It's a yes for me. 'Get in here you rascal and stop my house from flooding. No need to tell you where the toilet is ye cheeky monkey.'
But you wouldnt call a drain engineer that had an affair with your wife would you?
Look, if this posh plumber wants to loosen the drains for me, let him on

Yeah but i dont care what he did next, that has nothing to do with us, what we did was go for Silva and go backwards at a rapid rate, followed by Carlos rubbish.
If we sacked Sam and had a plan that would of been one thing, but we didnt, it was stupid and cost us a lot of money and wasted time, i said at the time this would happen and it did.
Appointing Allardyce was one of the biggest stains on the club ever. He was a panic appointment that should never have happened. Booting him was the correct thing to do irrespective of what came next.

Dont be silly, prior to Raffy it was the only one of the previous 4 managers that had sound logic.

This is an interesting observation, imo. Objectively, looking only at points won and league places gained, Allardyce was a big success. However, not one person shed a tear when he left and nobody was pilloried or accused of wanting the club to fail for not wanting him to remain as manager. Apparently it's those who are lukewarm on Benitez who are behaving inconsistently and irrationally, however.
I thought Allardyce did a good job at the time. He certainly did all that was asked of him. I felt the reaction to him was bordering on the hysterical. I never felt he was going to be a long-term solution as he simply did not fit in to the perception of what Moshiri's Everton was supposed to be, but I remember feeling that elements of the fanbase were indulging themselves in myopic vitriol when that man was really just a temporary diversion on the overall journey. It wasn't as if we were Real Madrid and could turn our noses up at competent, if unfashionable, managers. Yet, we chased him out and Moshiri then appointed an incompetent but "fashionable" manager. It was obvious to anybody paying attention that Silva was a very iffy choice, based on some nebulous concept of "potential" and "style" that was as tangible as the emperor's new clothes. Yet, it made some Evertonians fell better about themselves.

As for Senor Benitez, I have no doubt that his experience, competence and overall track record definitely fits in to Moshiri's perception of what his Everton is supposed to be. He'll not be chopping and changing again on the basis of, well, not very much frankly. Big Sam was never going to be at the club a season longer than was necessary once he had got us safe and stable in the top half. The bile thrown his way was instructive. The message I have taken from that episode and the reaction in some quarters to our new Iberian overlord is that there will never be unity in the Everton fanbase. It's a myth. So when people say that the board should listen to the fans, the obvious response is: which section of the fans? I don't need to like the manager to support him. I liked Silva - but he was useless. I disliked Koeman - and he was useless. I liked Ancelotti - and he is top class, if on the slide now. I don't particularly like Senor Benitez - but he is utterly competent. I'm not sure Evertonians need to like a competent manager, and I'm not sure it matters whether we do or not. But if he is competent - and he is - then that'll do me. It's certainly a far better situation than what we've often had over the last 5 years.

Been thinking about the Benitez analogy thingy we've got going on here.

I get @Death's drain engineer one, it's quite creative. Personally I make workies bugger off to the café, but I'm horrid.

The new dimension of an adulterous tradesman added by @marcelsgoat definitely starts to highlight the tensions felt by some in blue towards our Hispanic drain engineer. However, I'm not sure adultery is quite right.

So I'm going for: Senor Benitez is like an experienced worldly wise tradesman. He's been around the block and had a few marriages. Some have been passionate affairs featuring rabid adulation before petering out. Others have been passive aggressive marriages of convenience from the off. His latest wheeze is his third wife's sister. An odd match on paper and has caused some resentment amongst family and friends, whilst others have been accepting, recognising time, life events, and circumstances can bring the unlikeliest people together. Mad uncle Baz went a bit weird with the bedsheets, but less said about that the better.

Thoughts?

*ducks*

The difference between Benitez & Allardyce is recruiting & attitude.
Benitez recruits better
He communicates better (he's not the same bully Allardyce is)
Allardyce can get the most out of a bad bunch of players, but he never left a club in a better state than when he was appointed.

Agree on this, if Rafael left today, obviously we hope he doesnt, but if he did he leaves the club in a better place, who was the last manager who did that? It was Moyes.
